When you attack a rival's business, they get angry. Attack too many and they send hit squads out to kill you. With the Sharks, they get VERY angry. Even just attacking (and not necessarily taking over) 1 little business sends them in a frenzy. They'll calm down over time and stop attacking you though. In the meantime make sure you are armed to the teeth and always wear body armour. Cover yourself carefully and make sure you have a fast, durable car.

I have the ps2 version and i have only around 7 business and they still havent been attacked yet, i thought that they would be attacked a lot from what i read from the psp version... Ah and i have already finished the story. Is it normal on the ps2 version? did they fix that issue on the ps2?

I had real issues with this on the PS2. What I would do is take over a few businesses and then when one of mine was attacked, I'd defend it, then quickly save my game and turn off the PS2. If I didn't I ended up in a constant state of defense which just wouldn't stop.

Perhaps im lucky cause i beat the game, have 7 business and still havent been attacked lol

i actually find these attacks to be very enjoyable.

i have one business left, that i keep attacking and not buying, they exchange the ownership between the 2 gangs and so on and so forth.

it reminds me of the turfing in SA

I would just go on the offensive in VCS. By attacking a (say, Bikers) site, buying it, remodelling to my liking then move on to their next closest site, repeat.

By saving occasionally, you can always turn off the attacks by re-starting/ re-loading.

But if you ignore attacks on your sites and press on the attack, you risk a stat saying something like "attacks successfully defended: 3%" or something. It didn't bother me...

Keep an eye on your sites relative health with the red bar-graph. Repair during lulls in the fighting.

By making it so you need to re-load a saved game to stop attacks, R* gave us a way to play the way we'd prefer.

Only seven sites? Time to ammo up & Man Up!

Me too, it helps keep the game alive. This is one of VCS best features. Too bad the Chulos couldnt last like the Bikers and Sharks.

I also suggest that you complete the firefighter missions, so that you become fireproof. By becoming fireproof, you could use "poor man's grenades" at close range, therefore cooking the sharks well done. Another suggestion is to complete the ambulance missions so that you could run without getting tired. Mobility could mean the difference between life and "wasted". Also, I seem to lose the gang members when I walk on the beach. (most vehicles cant reach You). You could try staying away from the main roads and just stay in the alleys or travel by boat. The last thing that I could think of is to buy a bulletproof vehicle (excluding motorcycles) and recruiting as many gang members as possible.

I had real issues with this on the PS2. What I would do is take over a few businesses and then when one of mine was attacked, I'd defend it, then quickly save my game and turn off the PS2. If I didn't I ended up in a constant state of defense which just wouldn't stop.

Here's what I did on PS2, and it was really quite easy. Firstly, early on in the game, you'll notice that some of the businesses on the east side will be up for sale. So sneak over (I use the yankee method) and buy them, converting them into small time prostitution businesses. As you play on, every so often, an new one on the east side will come up for sale again, so sneak over an buy it. By the time the east side opens up, you can actually own up to 7 of the east side businesses without even fighting for them.

Secondly, and this goes for all the gangs in the game, once you take over one of their businesses, keep over taking them as quickly as possible, converting them into small time businesses. They will start to attack your businesses, but when this happens, ignore it, and continue to attack and take over theirs. You may lose one or 2 businesses, but that's ok, you'll take theirs over faster than they'll take over yours. Once you overtake the last business for a particular gang, quickly save and re-load your game. This will remove that gang from the game, and prevent them from attacking both you and your businesses. You will also want to go around repairing any businesses that need it, after they've been attacked.

Make sure you wait until the mission "Hostile Takeover" before attacking any of the biker businesses, otherwise they'll continue to give you trouble until you complete that mission (and take over their other businesses).
