San Andreas or Vice City Stories?

Recommended Posts

San Andreas is bigger and has more vehicles and things to do. There are skills you can work on to better your character. I had a lot more fun with San Andreas, and I am sure anyone would. Vice City Stories was made on PSP, so it is not as good as SA.

The only way you may want to pick VCS is because some people hate the whole "gangsta in the hood" style. That is what San Andreas is, so id you don't like that style, you may not like SA. Although I don't think it is that hard to get over it.

I always thought SA was unfairly pegged as a "gangsta" game, but I just chalk that up to ignorance. That theme is only prevalent in the Los Santos missions, you get the hippy country music feel with the Badlands missions, you get the whacky Triad oriental feel with the San Fierro missions, and you get the Area 51/Mafia feel with Bone County and Las Venturas. Anyway, if you're looking for a good handheld game and are in the mood for something with an 80's feel, VC Stories is the way to go. But I reccommend you experience the epic San Andreas first, it has some nice ties to 3 and VC which you've already played.

I know that. I didn't mind SA at all. I don't dwell on that type of sh*t anyway. I was happy when I found out it was a hood setting, and you are right, there are other styles in there, but the main one is "gangsta." But, there is a bunch of people that always complain about the "gangsta, rap" feel to SA.

I agree that it wasn't all "gangsta". I got completely different vibes from it. When I'm not re-living the storyline, I mostly get that early-'90s Alternative Rock feeling (thanks to some of the grittiness of Los Santos and listening to Radio X), and some of that makes it feel like a modern day setting to me.
