Hayze
I live in the NYC area and last night around 12:50am on HOT 97 (a hip hop based radio station) the DJ was doing the normal shout outs that every DJ does but at the end he said "and I wanna give a special shout out to Rockstar Games cus we got something monumental poppin off". I don't remember who was DJing at the time but i could eventually find that out. I'm thinking since he said monumental it might have something to do with GTA 4 and since hes a radio DJ i'm assuming he might be involved in a hip hop station in the game. Statutory Ray
According to HOT97's website, the DJ for that time is DJ Kayslay. I think given Rockstar's history of casting, it's quite possible that he could be in the game, either playing a character or doing a hip-hop radio station. Edit: It seems he's only the DJ on Thursday from 12 - 1 AM. It seems on other nights after 12 AM there is no DJ, or there is no information listed about it. The last DJ on weekdays is Funkmaster Flex, from 7 PM to 12 AM. Edited May 9, 2007 by Statutory Ray

Statutory Ray
I dug deeper and it seems the DJ on Wednesday mornings from 12 to 2 AM is DJ Green Lantern.
-/TNT\-
Props for being observant. Could it be possible that he might be a DJ in the game. Or is he just happy that the game is set in his city? /rates good
Porkeedeeo
Maybe he was simply saying IV will be soon avilable... ...or maybe he was proud to be in game If so, that 'monumental' could be related to visibility for many artists, that R* is going to give
snwbrdr484
DJ Green Lantern use to be eminem's DJ. hes really good and i think it would be awesome if he was in the game.
major underscore
Can someone please contact that DJ and just ask him if he will be in the game, as a radio host or something else? If he doesn't say "no", there may be something to this.
Snake-Shift
I think y'all are looking way too deep into this. We'll find out in about five months or so.

We'll find out in about five months or so. how is that reading too deep into it? if someone gives a shout out to rockstar games for something monumental it seems likely that they were involved in something. dertyjerzian
This means either of two thing. Either DJ Green Lantern or Kayslay (most likely Slay cause it's New York) will be 1: In the game radio stations or 2: Live on the air through the internet. Which would be Monumental. GTA going live with the rap radio station would be f*cking crazy. Monumental indeed.
Hayze
i don't think they'll do a live feed through the internet cus it would eliminate the humor with the commercials and all the songs and DJs would be censored which would be corny.
New B
if thats the case, then Papoose will be one of the artists on the radio station.
kurama20022003
if thats the case, then Papoose will be one of the artists on the radio station. i doubt that, he better get his album out in time cause they probably wont put any of his mixtape stuff on there. R3x
Watch as soon as the realse of GTA4 the radio station goes bankrupt and everybody gets fired. Lawl anyway good find
MysteryGamer
Interesting piece of news here I bet out of the 2 DJ's mentioned it will be DJ Kay Slay because of him being from New York I could see him being a host on one of the Hip-Hop radio station/s in Grand Theft Auto IV. It would be good if Papoose tracks were on the games radio station but his album keeps getting pushed back. NYC over here as well, and you're f**kin' right that qualifies as news. Monumental and all that. I just wonder what it exactly means. But I think some of these cats in here already sowed it up pretty good so far on speculating the possible routes they could take. However, it could be just like they said -- a simple appreciation shout-out for IV being set in NY. Although I personally would love to hear KaySlay and all of'em up on the radio Julio G style for real (or Hot 97 style rather) with modern cuts and everything. Oh, and @New B, kurama20022003 and MysteryGamer, Papoose would most definitely be up on there with somethin' regardless. That is if this news pans out. MysteryGamer
Yeah The Nacirema Dream (Papoose debut album) is supposed to come out this Summer but with the album being highly anticapated will likely be delayed again a few times. Having said that Papoose has tons of mixtape based tracks so R* could easily put those on the games radio stations.
Hayze
It def. wasn't Kay Slay that said it last night cus his voice is really easy to pick out if you're from the area so theres a better chance at Green Latern if that was who it was... I don't know his voice off hand but according to the sceduling that was him on the air.
Ph3L1z14n0
Maybe the DJ plays GTA and got a "taste" provided by R*
ryuclan
this is news to me, sicne VC R* has been using licensed music, and it has made the game better ((although they're music in GTA III wasnt too bad)) but putting these dj's in won't take away from gameplay, so i just gotta say its a good move if this is confirmed. Rob.
While I like to think it could be GTAIV. Remember Rockstar are also making a music game called "Beatrator" as well for the PSP. So it could be that.

The Stoic Paisano
This is good news as long as he tones down the DJKaySlaytheDramaKingKingKingKing garbage that he yells on every track. I haven't heard much of Papoose's mixtape stuff, but if he uses samples, they may be hard to clear for a video game.

Ya I was thinking about that too since Timbaland was confirmed to be working on that, but when I hear monumental and Rockstar Games in the same sentence I usually assume its GTA related even though Rockstar is pretty proud of their Beaterator. JCtheMC
So it's been mentioned it was Green Lantern DJ'ing.. if that's so, and Rockstar is into replicating Hot97 (Which is an awesome station) you can expect to hear a who's who of the NYC "underground". Green Lantern is connected with a number of really great (and intelligent) MC's and groups who still rock for the love... i'm hoping for some Immortal Technique on the soundtrack now! noodles
Green Lantern imo would be the more likely DJ Rock* would go after. While KaySlay is probably the more recognizable name of the two, GL is more along the lines of what they're looking for if Game Radio from GTA3 was any indication. If they follow the trend from LCS where they chose DJ Clue, then they would've picked Funk Flex since like Clue in the early-mid 90's Flex is pretty much the voice of NY hip hop on the radio. Musically however, just like choosing Stretch Armstrong for GTA3, Green Lantern would be the way to go for GTA4. He's well respected in NYC and is really good as far as mixing the underground and mainstream. Plus KaySlay is a tad bit too gimmicky.
Hayze
I'll remind everyone... KaySlay was only mentioned because he DJs around the time the shout out was given. Green Lantern was the DJ who gave the shout out so bounce Kay Slay out of the discussion. And I'd rather have Green Lantern involved with GTA 4 than Kay Slay anyway.
