Worth Buying?

Recommended Posts

Raindancer

I was really REALLY not impressed with LCS.

I loved the Vice City game and the music was fantastic, I enjoyed hanging at the Malibu club and flying my sea plane around the film studio's.

Does VCS have the same feel as Vice City? What is new? (Yes I could go searching reviews of the game) But being a lazy git that I am, can you guys give me some bullet points onto added features and negitive aspects of the game.

Thanks

The buildings have more neons (the city is prettier) you can play a golf minigame, some new cars and helicopters, jetskis, lots of side missions, outfits, safehouses more detailed (theres more interiors to enter than in VC but all interiors have to load like SA) The missions are fun but are easy. The characters are cooler, you can swim but you cant dive, theres empire missions, you can recruit your gang, you can watch Phil Collins concert. You cant enter Malibu and the Mansion anymore but you can still the Mall (which was redone) Theres much more to do than in LCS and i believe that more than VC too. The soundtrack is awesome, its almost as good as in VC (i think)

I wouldn’t say it has the exact same feel but its very similar, almost like a fresher version of it (which makes sense given the year setting).

New things include new vehicles, empire mode, new characters (as well as some old characters), some different landmarks also including buildings which were not in VC, new radio stations (again some others return) and swimming (I say new as this version of swimming is different to the one in SA).

Items such as balloons, unique stunts and rampages show on your pause screen map now so you know which you have completed.

And, if you loved flying the seaplane around, you be glad to know that in VCS (for PS2) the seaplane has MUCH more controllability, IMO. By adjusting the view from behind, it was easy to maintain an exact altitude (like, 12 inches off the water) because the plane flies faster at idle than in VC.

I doubt it has the same feel as the original Vice City but this is a very good game. It has more things to do post-storyline unlike Liberty City Stories. The game is great and I'd be sure you won't be as disappointed with it as LCS.

There are some minor drawbacks like some glitches but they're mainly minor glitches and aren't as serious as some of San Andreas' glitches were.

One word "Jetski's", it's worth buying for them alone, I love those things

Yes it's worth a buy, it does have a few things which make it better than before, like checkpoints for Emergency missions, jetskis, and the planes are a bit better, although I disagree with the Seaplane being more controlable, its rudder doesn't work in this, oh and jetskis

The negative points in my opinion is the manual targeting system, which in my opinion compared to San Andreas, which it's loosely based on is dreadful. If you want to manualy target you have to press and hold one button then press another then realese the first button, a lot of d*cking about in my opinion compared to San An.

But it's cheap as chips just make sure if you get it from HMV, to check the price of all of them on the shelf, the one I got was £17.99 as opposed to the rest of them on the shelf which were £19.99... icon14.gif

Let go of the first one? notify.gif That would mean you let go of R1!

Anyway, it's a great game Raindancer, and get's really fun near the end, especially Reni's stunt missions.

EDIT: Oh and get this, It's called the 'Vice Point Mall' instead of the 'North Point Mall'

Vanilla Shake
Well I am also thinking of buying VCS and was also disappointed with LCS. Although after reading some of the reviews by you guy I might go buy it.

You should definitely buy it dude. It's a great game and it'll keep you occupied until Grand Theft Auto IV comes out.
