htotheh
Well, in general, I thought the game was disappointing. There were good addons from GTA VC that made SA more RPG-like, and other cool features like double weapon, etc, etc. But I didn't like quite a few things... 1. I'm not a Hip-Hop/R&B fan at all, so the music was something that always got on my nerves... I did use the custom music player thing, but still... The music choices were a disappointment (to me at least). 2. Flying planes are way too hard. I spent days and nights playing the game, until I got to flying school. It was way to hard to fly airplanes. I don't know about VC because the only thing I flew in that was helicopters (helis in SA is easy like VC), but airplanes was way to hard. I skipped Flying School by downloading that saved file, and then I had to buy all the clothes I had, get the all the cars I had, all the Import/Export "missions," all the side-missions. 3. Then I got to Free Fall. I spent 48 hours (if not more) doing that mission over and over again. Probably read all the guides and watched all the videos on it, but just couldn't do it myself. What did you expect, I couldn't do Flying School mission... 4. Most of the mission were somewhat off topic. They don't relate to the main story. CJ pretty much is just a tool who runs errands for different people for absolutely no reason.... I don't know, I just feel like **** if I can't beat a mission involving flying airplanes... Damn it! I'm not saying the game itself is bad, but I'm saying, certain aspects ruins my thoughts about the game. It's understandable to make some missions somewhat challenging, so the game won't be very easy (like Fable the Lost Chapters for those who have played it) but flying is way too hard... edscoble
Right, let see. I don't like Hip-hop/R&B and all that bollocks, matter of fact, I hate it, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the games. two - flying planes' hard?? has you not tried GTAIII? it's a lots harder, methinks you just hasn't got used to flying the plane, it's not that hard really. the free fall is easy, just open the parachute. HolyGrenadeFrenzy
GTA's are all abit non-linear and that has mass appeal before undone by anything but RPG's and I am referring clear back to the Table Top RPG's and not the current Video Game Variety. Have you gotten a pilots licence in real life? Some of the members of my family do and some have other involvement in mechanical things of various natures.......They are not complicated and the level of complication could be much worse as is so in many similators. I hope after some more game play you will have a change of heart but that is really your perogative. KradleshockH
Just curious, have you beaten the game though? I'm sure you have. But big disappointment? It could be one of the best GTA's ever made (Aware that it's debatable). From crouching down and rolling over, to maintaining a healthy way of living, to recruiting and performing gang wars, I think it was a big change and a thumbs up indeed for a job well done. It's a game that you'll be working on for at least a month or two which should keep you busy since there are so many missions plus side missions. On a side note, I apologize in advance for spamming, but I just thought that if anyone was having trouble beating in missions, to try out GTA Missions. Mixolydian
Flying planes are way too hard. Flying in San Andreas isn't hard at all. You just aren't good at it for some reason. How much time did you spend in flying school? How much time have you spent picking up planes at the airport and flying around? davidthegtamaster
I think being able to fly planes in GTA:SA is the best thing ever and i'd love it if they would have made another 20 panes for my to grab and fly. you probably just havnt even tried. Practice makes perfect dude! Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277532-gta-sa-big-disappointment/#findComment-4226694 Share on other sites
RidingHigh
You need to try flying on a PS2, it's pretty easy and fun once you get the hang of it. But I don't think it would be that much harder on a PC, you just have to let the plane fly and point it in the right direction. The more you mess with the controls the more the plane goes out of control. As for the hip hop thing, the whole game is based around black, gangster life in the 90's. What did you expect? Classical and jazz? KingAJ032304 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277532-gta-sa-big-disappointment/#findComment-4226718 Share on other sites

Lioshenka
i hate SA rap too (though i like real-life rap) so i listened to K-Rose and WCTR. that not a problem. And planes... It is hard, but thats so cool when you beat it! And remeber Torenos words You try and you fail, you try - and you fail again. But the real failure is when you stop trying. That is so damn right - he is a genius. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277532-gta-sa-big-disappointment/#findComment-4226883 Share on other sites
Aviator79
I have thoroughly enjoyed SA. Mostly because of the immense size of the area with three cities and the countryside. You almost never run out of things to do (although many things are off story-line), and when you finally do, you can start messing around with glitches, easter eggs, cheats and all the things you arent supposed to do. But I have to say I liked the storyline better in VC, and had VC been the same size as SA it would have totally rocked!! The music scoreof VC was a bit more typical for it's time. I don't think you would have found many radio stations in the 90's playingwhat you hear on the radio's of SA. But I'm gussing there had been some copyright issues when R* made the game. Some music probably became too expensive to put on the score. tokarev33
flying school is hard...i totally agree, but if you got spare time, come back and do the challenges, it'll take time, a lot of it, it took for me too, but at the end, u'll feel proud of urself. Well, I kind of, sort of agree that GTA San Andreas was disappointing, but it clearly is not one of the worst games ever in the GTA franchise. But here are my gripes: - If you hated flying airplanes in GTA San Andreas, two words: SUPPLY LINES. Ask anyone here and they will be very happy to tell you that it is, by far, the most difficult and frustrating mission ever in the history of the GTA franchise. No other mission will ever surpass the difficulty of that one for the next 100 years. If they put a similar mission like this in GTA4, I will not purchase GTA4 -- period!!!!!! - Graphics are average compared to Vice City. The developers crammed too many side-missions and lots of other things into the game, and to accomodate all this, R* had to sacrifice some of the graphics quality. - Music stations are good (my favorites are Playback FM and CSR 103.9). I miss the hilarity of VCPR, though. One thing you can do to make flying the planes easier is to press SELECT twice. You'll fly the planes from the "pilot's view". That's what I did for the flying school, especially for that one lesson with the Hunter shooting at the trucks and Army vehicles. Unfortunately, you can't do this for a mission like Supply Lines. Finally, GTA San Andreas works much better on the PlayStation 3! The game looks the same as it does on the PlayStation 2, but the PlayStation 3 is 40X faster than the PS2 so it can easily handle a game like GTA San Andreas. BixDugan
I stopped reading when he said he skipped flight school by downloading a save file. There are no "downloadable save files" in real life, so why do you need one for a damn game. My apologies if you have a disability, of course. Isonis
It was hard. When i got it in 2005 i got stuck after 48 hours on all the possible missions i could do, so a few months later i got a saved game (100%) and had alot of fun, until last month i deleted it, so i tried a new game, and with the help of SnP, i have got quite far. (Just left LV for LS again.) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277532-gta-sa-big-disappointment/#findComment-4227232 Share on other sites

edscoble
Supply Lines is not that hard actually, it's just hard to certain people, I did precisely what Isonis did, well, almost, I only downloaded the ending mission and that's that cause it's too hard, but couple of months later, let try again, and end up finishing the games without any cheat (with the usual armour and health cheat of course). If I were you - KEEP learning on flying, sooner or later it'll become second nature, and you'll end up doing nice flashly loop and all that bollocks. jnzooger
...without any cheat (with the usual armour and health cheat of course). Nice contradiction there. I'm now over 50% completion on my first 100% run (ignore the sig, I haven't updated), but I have completed the story without any cheats at all. htotheh
Haha "no cheats except for the usual health and armor cheat" I find beating the game (same applies for all other games) without cheats first, then after I finish the game (aka when the game gets boring) cheats will make it fun again. I find flying Jets very easy, I did Vertical Bird with no trouble, but flying planes other than jets is very hard (flying school, and freefall were impossible to me). zacsonfire
i find both jets and airplanes so easy to fly...yes when i first bought the game all i did was fly the dodo and lier jet for 48 hours straight but i didnt find it hard when i first started. try flying the AT-400...i love that thing.
