What is better?

My dad wants me to get 360 because he says blu ray is going to fade and all that crap that HD is better. And because 360 is cheaper.

Which do you prefer?

Mister Zero

I prefer PS3, but it's all opinion in terms of consoles. Look at the games available on both systems and the exclusive games, then decide.

he says blu ray is going to fade

Where the hell did he hear that. Blu-ray is beating HD-dvd in sales. but it hasn't beaten dvd cause everyone has a dvd player.

Any ways look at the games you like then choose. if you like the games on both consles equally buy both. biggrin.gif

Anyway Microsoft can't lose the HD versus Blue-ray battle becuase if HD fails to take off and Blue-ray wins Microsoft have got a blue-ray player lined up.

And more to the point as off now i would say the 360, it's cheaper, better online and has a bigger selection of games.

Well, first off I don't want to offend you or your dad when I say he's wrong. There's no evidence indicating either format is dominating over the other, so I don't see that as a valid point. Still, 360 as of now has a lot more titles to choose from. I'd say if you were getting a system now, get the 360. A lot of shooters if that's what you're into, which I'd imagine since a lot of gamers' dads are into those kinds of games. But if I were you I would wait, to see how things develop. The PS3 has yet to show its true potential, both hardware-wise and its games.

reporting negative repsonses to a propoganda film, pure class, however some major problems with the video:

-ps3s controller wins because of "a wider range of functionality", and the videos creator challenges people do disagree? that makes it quite clear which side he is on

-pros for PSstore: lots of content, cons: lack of content? wow.

-XBL marketplace is free, not 50 bucks a year. xbl gold is 50 bucks a year

-motorstorm target renders were used to show off the ps3s graphics?

-ps3 feature: "100% real physics"? the f*ck?

that video was just sad.

@zacsonfire: look at the games first, if the games you want to play are on both, then think about other features, but games should come first.

if the games you want are on both, and you want to buy into the HD format war, buy the ps3. if you don't, buy the 360. they are so close performance wise, if the games you want are on both, it comes down to your movie preference.

Seriously, that video is god damn annoying. The main reasoning behind "PS3 winning" is because of "Blu-Ray". Whoopideef*ckingdoo. It's like saying your left nut hangs a few inches lower than mine. +what SIP said.

Also, buy whatever console has what games you want to play, because when it really comes down to it, thats ALL you really need out of GAMING console.

Yeah, really mature of you. "I'm gonna show this video, and if you don't like it, I'm gonna snitch you out."

Now, On-Topic. I say 360, but that's me. It really depends on your preferences.

Actually, his dad is not only incorrect, he has found opposites. No offense. To anyone <3

Blu Ray, as of about mid april, was outselling hd dvd by 3:1, and with available movies being a ratio of 1:5. So for every 1 title available on blu ray, there are 5 titles available on HDDVD. For every HDDVD sold (mid april numbers!!) there are 3 sold in BRD format.

Yeah, really mature of you. "I'm gonna show this video, and if you don't like it, I'm gonna snitch you out."

Dude, I had to say that as a disclaimer, I have received quite a bit of drama on this subject and I would like to not be the reported anymore. No hard feelings, you kinda help to clear it up further, eh? <3

Actually, the points are irrelevent, it is the data provided that I was showing. Your reply are the kind I was talking about reporting. This topic is not to be highjacked on a console war tip, I was just giving the kid a source of info. A video to show his father.

-ps3 feature: "100% real physics"? the f*ck?

Shows how much you know.

Ok, welp, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, slow your rolls and realize that YOU are the reasons I chose to say I will report negative responses. This is not a debate on a video, this is a question from a peer of ours, and the video was DEAD-ON accurate.

Whatever, skimp the cash, get the trash.

It really all depends on your personal preferences. Check out the exclusive games for each console, see which appeal more to you. Check your budget. Figure out if HD is important to you, etc.

That video was terrible, btw. Please, report me.

The main reason Blu-Ray is winning is because of PS3.

Fixed.

The mention of Blu-ray winning is because sony is doing whatever they can to win. HD-DVD's sales are very close to that of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD doesn't even have any games. Sony also is giving away free discs to up their numbers.

@Derty: WTF? That film was pure bullsh*t. The processor part was way off as well. And since when is something part PC? It either is a Personal Computer or it's not. 100% real physics? You mean the ones where I am playing Tony Hawks Project 8, I grind and I bail and fly like 80 ft off the ground. What about the disappearing soldiers in COD3?

The PS3 is the worst way to get into Blu-Ray. If I had that much money I would wait until the whole Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drive speed is faster, a definite winner is out, and also I would wait out the internal blu-ray conflicts. Apparently some of you haven't heard of the new standard that takes over at the end of the year? BRJ(Blu-Ray Java).

The sixaxis controller sucks for me, I find it slippery, awkward for motion sensing, feedbackless, and I find it to be unresponsive alot when I am using it (maybe my friend has a faulty controller?)

PS3 is trash. Use the cash for a PC.

Use the cash for a pc? no! I dont play games or anything on my computer. Just use photoshop and forums. my laptop is prefectly capable of that.

But I want PS3 because: 60gb hardrive, sixaxis, better graphics then 360 (i think), and i trust PS more than Xbox.

Oh yeah, jw, do you have an HDTV? If not, Blu-Ray is kinda useless then. I mean, it's meant FOR HDTV, am I wrong?

Well, if you feel that a PS3 is the best choce because of the PS band name, by all means get one. A lot of people who criticize a system don't even own one. Either that, or they're one of the few chosen ones, aka the "Un-biased". Do yourself a favor and just research. Take a look at IGN and see some of the potential games you'd play on both consoles, look ahead into the future for exclusives and potential titles. Also, see if things like Playstation Home interest you, or even quarky things like Viva Pinata or LittleBigPlanet.

If you want a big hard-drive, then go for the XBOX360 Elite. Cleared out you should have over 100 gigs to fill with whatever you like. If you plan on playing any high-definition movies along with a hard drive, you can get either an XBOX360 Premium plus an HD-DVD add-on for 600.00 USD, or the Elite with it for 680.00 USD. On the other hand, you can get a Playstation 3 for either 500.00 USD or 600.00 USD, depending on how big you want your hard drive, and if you want WiFi or not.

Let me also add that you can EASILY replace the PS3 hard drive with any 2.5" laptop hard drive. Instructions are in the manual. It doesn't cost much to upgrade the PS3 HDD.

That video thoroughly rim jobbed my grandmother's anus, and she's been dead for over three years.

If you have an HDTV and you are really into HD video, then an HD format would be for you. Otherwise, Sony is just trying to throat rape you with the Blu-Ray format when a DVD player that can upconvert is a far more sensible option. I would probably have a PS3 right now myself it wasn't for Blu-Ray mucking things up.

Seriously, buy the console that has the exclusive titles that appeal to you the most. If gaming is all that matters, then that should be all that matters.

Wow, so convincing. Microsoft forces you to buy an addon? Only if you want the drive.. The PS3 and Xbox360 are primarily gaming systems, and you don't need the HD DVD drive to play games.

I wouldn't even think about putting down my hard earned money on any new format at this stage.

Anywho, what was the name of that tool song in the incredibly biased video that someone posted as gospel?

It was a completely inappropriate and blasphemous use of "Ænema", which brings up a question that has nothing to do with anything... Was Ænema supposed to mean "American Enema" (it's said to be a combination of the words anima and enema as well)? I always assumed that that's what they were getting at when you listen to the lyrics about California being flushed into the ocean, not to mention that's the very image behind the CD in the case.

Funk3h wades in the sea of fanboys

f*ck me.

I have a PS3, had it since launch. Thought it was going to roxxor my boxxors, everyone was saying how it "pwns" the 360 with its HDD, Blu-Ray and sh*t. Tbh, its nothing special. Im bored of it now and want a 360.

PSN has lots of content? Oh f*cking rly? The UK store is laughable. I don't want "Super Rub A Dub" or "Sudoku" I want decent games to play. The US store is getting all the demos and videos whereas it feels as if the UK gets stuck with the crap. It may change later on since the US PS3s have been out for longer, but it should have some sort of balance.

Really its up to you, if you want a cheap fun game machine, go with the 360. If you want a multi-media entertainment system go with the PS3.
