Jay
Hey all. I've made it apparent to some about my pet hate, which is people who use freakingly massive images in their avatars which are condensed and squished into little unrecognisable browser shaking boxes. I don't know if I'm the only person who finds that fraction of a second longer to scroll down a page annoying or not. I know I've seen on some forums where they say "Oversized avatars will be scaled down (within reason)" So I was wondering whether there was a way to implement a process by which there is a maximum size that could be condensed, maybe 400 pixels in width? It gets ridiculous when people put wallpaper size images in their avatars (and in some cases, larger than that.) Case in point. I'm not demanding change, I'm just sorta asking whether it is possible? Cheers and beers guys, you know I love the work you do here. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277106-immense-condensed-avatars/ Share on other sites
Pat.
I really don't see anything wrong with this idea. I hate it when someone tries to take this bigass image and turn it into their avatar. I couldn't even tell what Seddo's avatar was untill he posted in one of CCPD's topics saying "They look nice, but I think I'm going to keep my Liverpool FC avatar for a while longer". Eh, its a rotating Liverpool badge. Simple to see Anyway, its not more the bigass wallapaper avatars, its people with avatars over 80kb. Like some GTAIV "newbs" have the whole trailer or part of it as their ava. Otter
I'm running a fairly old rig, and it doesn't slow me down any. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277106-immense-condensed-avatars/#findComment-4221183 Share on other sites
SWEETSAPRIK
Anyway, its not more the bigass wallapaper avatars, its people with avatars over 80kb. Like some GTAIV "newbs" have the whole trailer or part of it as their ava. Which they're allowed to do now, since someone thought it would be a nice idea to remove the filesize limits on avatars. Personally, dimensions don't bother me as I could care less if I can make out someone's avatar. Filesize on the other hand does, still there are a few options. If you're on Firefox you can (get adblock, then) adblock the individual images, or even the entire domain. You could also disable avatars in your CP as Parky.1 said. I mean I think it sucks that the filesize limits were removed, but I'd rather block a few individual images then not see any avatars at all. Jay
If you're on Firefox you can (get adblock, then) adblock the individual images, or even the entire domain. That's a really good idea actually. Well for me at least. This thread was made for the majority of the forum members, but if nobody else seems to have an issue with it, I'll let it rest. Otter
I can agree to that. I didn't know filesize limitations had been removed. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/277106-immense-condensed-avatars/#findComment-4222335 Share on other sites
