Logitech Dual Action Gamepad question

Recommended Posts

I have a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad USB for the game, and I have trouble with some on screen dialog asking me to use keys on my gamepad that arent there, like gamepad that or at the gamepad 16 and maybe 13, the on screen dialog I'm having trouble with is when it says to use this gamepad numbers I don't have, to do with either communicating with other NPC players or recruiting gang members, I figured out what keyboard keys to use instead, but I'd like to now if there's a mod or anyway to get the on screen dialog to correspond properly with my gamepad, I think I also have the same problem trying to hitch the gas tanker in the second girlfriend mission where you have to steal a tanker truck, can't figure out which key hitch's the gas trailer up, I just keep backing up my transport truck tell it hitch's which can be a long process!..

hope I posted this in the proper section and I explained everything I need help with properly!..

thx cool.gif Craig

In the options section there is a screen in the controller setup section where you can redefine the controls. As long as you have enough different buttons to cover the needs of the game, you can assign the various game actions to buttons on the controller. You just select the action (Jump for example) with the up/down control (or arrows on the keyboard) and push the button that you want to be the jump button.

Be careful, though, because if a button is assigned to some other action, it will be removed from that one and assigned exclusively to your new selection. So just make sure you don't disable anything that you need.

There is no key that I know of to attach a tanker to a trailer. You just need to practice the connection. I find it helps to look to the rear from above while backing up into the trailer, instead of looking forward and hoping for the best.

Are you using Logitech's control center thing? If so, I can send you my controller setup for that controller that makes it act nearly like the PS2. Even start activates the menu. The only real difference is sniper zooming isn't on L2 and R2 and instead is on square and X .

Edit: If you prefer, I can try and set up the controller as the Xbox layout instead. I would just need to know the layout.

I don't know much about game pads and how to program them, I only know how to search for a file extention with the letters WGP at the end, a profile it's called I think and I go to a site called wingmen to search for Logitech Gamepad profiles, I tried that pinnacle program and it was way to complicated!..

I just wont my Logitech Gamepad to correspond with what the game is telling me to use to do things like control the forklift, and communicate with the people on the street, or recruit a gang member!..

I use Mission Passers to skip the stupid dance mission and low-rider dance car missions because the on screen arrows go by to fast and it's a stupid side mission to begin with!..

thx Craig

Ok, then you do use the profile tool. The conversation and gang stuff auto maps to buttons that don't exist. By default, you can't map the d-pad in game. In the logitech profile tool, set-up the d-pad with up as the G key, down as the H key, left as the N key, and right as the Y key. while you are at it, you could set the start button as ESC. PM me if you want a WGP with the settings already set-up for you and I'll tell you a good control set-up in game aswell.

Edit: I'll just put it here to help other people too...

WPG for this setup (or to just make the dpad mapable and start into ESC): http://files-upload.com/207734/SanAn.wgp.html

These are my controls. Used in conjuntion with Logitech Profiler, this setup is almost exactly the same as the PS2 controls. Most of the buttons have the number on them. Any that don't are listed next to the button name. When using this setup, be sure to set Control Settings -> Configuration to Joypad.

The link works fine, can you read Greek?

Setup USB GAMEPAD (Joystick) = PS2 controls.

Try buttons Before you program them (push each button during game play to see what it does now.)

< BUTTONS on right side of control:>

Button/Trigger
Foot
Vehicle
#1 or X at 9 o’clock
Jump
Brake/Reverse
#4 or Y at Noon
Enter or Exit
Enter or Exit
#3 or B at 3 o’clock
Fire
Fire
#2 or A at 6 o’clock
Sprint
Accelerate
<Front Buttons:>

Button/Trigger
Foot
Vehicle
#5 or Left High
Action
Secondary Fire
#7 or Left Low
Previous Weapon/target
Look Left – Aircraft: left rudder
#6 or Right High
Aim
Handbrake
#8 or Right Low
Next Weapon/Target
Look Right – Aircraft: right rudder
Directional Cross (not programmable)

<< ANALOG STICKS >>

Button/Trigger
Foot
Vehicle
#11 or Left Stick
General Movement
General Movement
#12 or Right Stick
Camera Movement
Camera Movement
#11 or Left Stick (as a button)
Look Behind
Sub Mission (start/cancel)
#12 or Right Stick (as a button)
Crouch
Horn/Siren
#9 & #10 Two small buttons between left Directional and 4 buttons.

Program as you will, I have used them for either radio stations forward/backward OR responses Yes/No

Note: Some of the buttons or combinations of buttons are automatically programmed. For actions.

Such as both bottom front buttons pushed at the same time when in a vehicle will show what’s behind you.

I have three USB gamepads and the button Number/Letter Assignments on them are different. That’s why I listed descriptive locations as well as numbers/letters. Numbers in are for Logitech Dual Action, Letters for the Logitech F510.

Note you might also assign the same button to a different command IF they will be in a different column.

You shouldn't need it. Maybe your problem is elsewhere?

I presumed You did select JOYSTICK for the control (not K&M)?

Your game is a real game installed by using the Original DVD from Rockstar?

You are playing with that DVD in the drive?

You (or someone else) haven't modded the game?

I found the controller worked best without the Logitech Special Drivers.

When I'm playing the game says to use ## to do <whatever>.

The numbers are on my controller. And, during the Flying Test it does say to use the "A" key for the one test.

Is there a switch on the bottom of that GamePad?

Seem I had that one and didn't like it because of the 'triggers' being too slow and awkward.

The Logitech Dual Action is the best for this game.

have you look at:

SAAC v1.0 San Andreas Advanced Control

I have SAAC, but secondary fire (with aiming) working... Without aiming! ^^ In this situation game shows me statistics (Tab key) but I also shoot with selected weapon. Annoying.

Dual Action is a clone of the Rumblepad without force feedback.

I've never had the secondary fire without aiming.

Yes, that same button would show stats if not aiming.

Never have I had both at the same time.

How does your button assignments match the ones listed above?

same as mine, except I didn't bother with the camera. The right stick seems well enough for camera control.

I would almost be saying to remove all the 'special drivers' for the gamepad and just use the default game option. Unless of course you need them for other games.

Without logitech drivers vibrations didn't responde. Also Jedi Academy requires logitech profiler for

full working gamepad controls.

ARGH, I solved the problem. I used version 1.2 of SAAC. This version doesn't work properly on GTA: SA 1.0.

I must admit, I struggled with the controls, I felt pity for 32", CRT TV.
