Ring_of_Fire
6600GT graphics card w/1GB of RAM, and you're getting a "not enough video memory"? People have had 32MB of RAM and have bypassed that error message. Anyway , why don't you try doing this in the following order before you do and I say anything else: Really, reinstalling is not enough and I think I should tell Fuz to change that comment in the buglist. Uninstall your game Remove all leftover items in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Vice City Delete the [.set] file in your My Documents' folder (GTA VC User Files) Uninstall previous NVIDIA drivers and restart computer Get the newest and latest drivers Here. (I'm assuming you're using XP) Install 'em and restart computer Reinstall Vice City Launch Vice City I think I need to copy and paste these steps into Microsoft Word next time. The following steps will take less than 30mins (max) and maybe less than 15/20mins to complete. So it's not a waste of time. It's just to allow us to figure out quickly what the hell of a problem you're having and how to deal with it quickly! Demarest
You should address that. I don't know of anybody that has to adjust their hardware acceleration for most anything. @ROF: If he couldn't even get the opening videos to play, there's no reason to be talking somebody through the lengthy process that you did. Getting them to be able to play videos should've been the first target, since that's what the symptoms pointed to. Ring_of_Fire
Must have been because the videos were hogging up his system RAM. I was assuming that he had them in the taskbar, but the actual conflict was because of a video file being in the "My Documents" folder?! This definitely had to be running processes which the bugfix list stated already to close 'em down, but I have never heard of files in a folder affecting memory. I have music and video files in my "My Documents" folder everyday and still running Vice! Well, he does have 1GB of RAM and a GeForce 6600GT w/128 - 256MB of video memory. Well Vice City only supports DirectX 9. So may I ask for all of your system specs, and the current OS you're using?
