Zom-B
The only GTAIII Xbox TXD that can be opened is the Generic.txd So uhm. No. You know this for sure? A lot of GTA related modding was thought impossible or farfetched, but a lot has been achieved. I'm sure we can do this if we try.
Claude GTA3
hey,I converted the wheels and textures from my friend,so I use them ingame (his copy died yesterday tho) I'm waiting approval from GTAgarage

WillzyyyGTA
I recently saw a trailer for the Xbox version of GTA3, i'm buying a 360 in a few months and want to buy the GTA Trilogy pack for it. (Hopfully it's backwards compatible) Made me wonder though, i heard rumours that the models are higher quality.. Claude looks slightly better, he seems to have detailed looking spiked hair and face, and the flames on the Diablo Stallion looked different. Am i seeing things? Or are there really different models? Perhaps they could be ported to the PC version.. Every thing is true...GTA III and VC are 10x better on XBOX.

Claude GTA3
Ya,but those are for LC,for 3 I had to modufy the MISC folder since it doesn't have the Wheels.txd
Koko8
The Xbox version of GTA 3 is the best version you could find for GTA 3. If you have a Xbox and a PS2 and is planning to buy GTA 3,buy it on the Xbox(Included in the Doublepack collection aswell as in the Trilogy edition)
Claude GTA3
D'uh...I have to disagree...The Classic graphics are better, they make the game unique (but sucky looking) This is only a discussion of a maybe upcoming mod...
Ash_735
Nice work Claude, not much of a difference like Vice though, only looks like two cars have more detailed wheels, the Banshee and the Patriot and maybe some other sports cars.
DexX
i'm a bit late, but i just noticed this topic today. The xbox files are compressed and optimized specifically for the xbox. they are not corrupt. Most of the experienced modders here, including myself, had the same discussion you guys did, except back in late 2003/early 2004 when the xbox version of gta3 was still new. the files still are not open-able (except the few already mentioned in this topic). The specific enhancements to the xbox are: -specular lighting on vehicles (light actually bounces back off the surface of the vehicle) -real time reflections (reflections are calculated as you drive around the city, and change depending on your surroundings - no static image can replicate this effect) -lightmap shadows on buildings (actual shadows are baked into the building textures, which looks far more natural) -specular maps on roads (same idea as vehicles - light is actually reflected off the road) -soft-skinned peds and player model (characters are all one piece, for smoother looking animation) -increased texture/model detail on vehicles, peds, other objects The reflection and specular lighting mods are only available for the pc version for Vice City, not gta3. There was an old version of the specular lighting mod (by Willyboy, not me) that worked with gta3, but that wasn't intentional. it was purely coincidence that it worked with gta3. Claude GTA3
Demarest said that the Reflections are in the engine (.EXE)Is it possible to hack it and make them for 3? btw,LINKY FOR VC REAL-TIME please?
DexX
There are only old, incomplete versions online at the moment. try them at your own risk; real-time reflections specular lighting put the .asi files in the same folder are your gta-vc.exe. press F2 for the lighting, and F4 for the reflections, if you don't see them already. Claude GTA3
THANK YOU!I downloaded the one that popped up on the Page, but F4 doesn't do anything(NO real-time,how did you manage to make it work on ur PC). stef_92
I downloaded the generic.txd and the wheels of the XBOX version yesterday and I have to say that they look awsome! The road, grass and cliff textures are TWICE bigger and more detailed! The weels are great too but 4 of the wheel thextures (saloon, alloy, lighttruck and smallcar) are not too qualited and I replaced them with thos from the PC version. So can somebody port the particle.txd and hud.txd plss! They will be great!
MurderAfterDark
how do you get the pc to read the xbox discs? mine just reads the dvd files on the disc, It can read PS2 games fine, I might go on GTA3 on the Xbox, I haven't gone on it in a while, great memories playing it,
DexX
how do you get the pc to read the xbox discs? mine just reads the dvd files on the disc that's all it can do. Microsoft prints xbox discs in such a way that the contents cannot be accessed via a normal pc dvd drive. they write the disc backwards if i remember correctly, from the outside in. stef_92
So, if only the wheels and generic.txd can be ported they have to be in the middle of the disk! Correct me if I am wrong!

Correct me if I am wrong! you're wrong. people with modded xbox's are the ones dumping the files, from their xbox, to their pc. NONE of the files can be read with a standard dvd drive.
