Ever listen to a song and really listen to the lyrics to find out that it was about something familiar like a historical event or a movie or a novel you read? Ever listened to a song that told a story that you could actually follow along with? Have you ever had any favorites? Please share, and next to the song, write what the song was based off of or what the song is about.

Misty Mountain Hop? Ramble On?

Right on, buddy. Couldn't remember at the time.

Why did i expect Iron Maiden to feature heavily in this thread?

Don't forget Aces High, based on the battle of Britian and The Prisoner, based on the 60's TV series

Condemned 84's "We're gonna win Euro '96" mentions the 1966 world cup, and has itself passed into history (though England lost Euro 96 XD)

Stiff Little Fingers' "Dead man walking" is based on the tale of a black boxer who became the champion, but still faced the old bigotry. I beleive it's the same guy the film "White men can't jump" was based on. A lot of thier songs are also about stuff happening in Northern Ireland, but where written as it happened
