Image Metrics Possible Partner on GTA IV

Recommended Posts

Adriaan

Ok so this is probably like the smallest piece of "news", or rather information I could post, but I decided I'm going to archive it anyway. I noticed today that a company called Image Metrics received "The Red Herring 100 Europe 2007 Award", that developed on GTA titles and Table Tennis.

From what I see they develop technologies for digital film and video game companies involving character and facial animation and all sorts of effects.

You can visit their website below - click on "clients" to see the games.

I know this comes of no interest, but is at least something, right?

Interesting for films the only one they have listed is that G rated Polar Express then in the games gosh what a change! Most say M and up. Looks like they started working with the GTA series at San Andreas and if what they show is right they may also be working on IV. And If the looks in Call of Duty two are anything compared to what this company can do. Then We might be seeing some impressive work in the future.

From G to M: well, technology is amoral. In Hollywood, most of the equipment used during film production is rented. The same camera may have lensed a horror film and a kid's film. There's probably even more technology crossover between markets in video games.

Rob.

Nice find, of all the games they've worked on, Table Tennis was the only "next-Gen" title, and the effects in that game were pretty impressive so it'll be good to see what they can do in GTA4.
