Save file error

hey guys

 

after years of not playing GTAVC, i decided to play it again. after some days, being @ 33% complete (only mission, no hidden packages done etc.), i saved the game after i completed the second last mission for the malibu beach club.

 

just after saving, my pc suddenly restarted. so i had to restart the game once i was in windows again. but GTAVC said 'save game file 1 not present'. though i checked its present in the save games dir (which is standard my documents, right?)

 

i tried all sorts of stuff, but cant find the problem. the present savegames file has been changed/edited for the last time @ the exact time i saved the game for the last time. the file is present in the dir ...i dont get it. i even re-installed GTAVC

 

can someone plz help me?

I've never seen a 'corrupt' save, but this might well be one. Seeing as the game crashed during the save process, I wouldn't be surprised if, unluckily, your progress has been lost.

 

What confuses me is that the game reports no save file existing at all. Although you seem to know what you're doing, you confirm that GTAVCsf1.b exists in My Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\, right? Perhaps the crash occured at the time the data of the "last mission past" was being written (i.e. the 'title' of the saved game) and thus the game reports no file existing due to the save title being corrupt.

 

I'm really clutching at straws here I'm afraid - I haven't seen such an error before.
