seniorduck
That definition of Burger Shot is all wrong btw... From urbandictionary.com: Burger Shot: "A photo with an explicit view of the female genitalia. Particularly, but not restricted to, close-up shots with legs akimbo." seniorduck
I do believe the coffee shop we get in IV is called the Bean Machine. Adding to the list, there's a play on Panasonic called "Panoramic," Max Renda is Max Factor, and America's Next Top Hooker should be obvious. Open to interpretation are Kronos, E-Cola, flyUS, Cluckin' Bell, Burger Shot, MeTV (MTV?), Logger Beer, the green and white awning resembling a T.G.I. Friday's. EDIT - there seems some incongruities in the Real-Life / In-Game Counterpart section. E-Cola=Ecoli Kronos=Timex?? flyUS=FlyBE Cluckin' Bell=sombody mentioned Taco Bell Burger Shot=Burger (add the shot cause its gta) King?? MeTV (MTV?) Logger Beer=somebody mentioned Bud the green and white awning resembling a T.G.I. Friday's= to me it looks like it says H.O.T. which i thought was a reference to Hot coffee Hmm, H.O.T.? Why not S.H.I.T.? (Sure Happy It's Thursday)
ryuclan
Actually, the foe Starbucks in VC was called Tarbrush, not Tarbrucks. Logger Beer is a take on Budweiser, most likely. Cluckin' Bell is obviously a play on the name of Taco Bell, and is meant to be a KFC type fast-food joint (was included in SA, and mentioned in LCS, I think). There's definitely more I can dig out. Cluckin Bell Probably has something to do with the fact that Taco Bell and KFC are sumtimes connected.

TonyResta
Good work, but there are MANY grammatical errors, clear them up and it's perfect. Mahattan -> Manhattan scotum -> scrotum sack of simplicity -> sake of simplicity Thats only a few of them, good work nonetheless.

Knowledge™
@geomy I don't know if it does, because what about this: Since that guy is wearing a RON T-shirt, I sort of doubt that that's what it says on that pump-station. It does seem to say that, but when I think about that guy wearing that shirt, it makes me think that RON is a mere clothing company instead. But then again, the 'drop' could be a 'gas-drop' if you will. Maybe RON could be a play on the energy company ENRON. If that's so, we could expect to hear radio commercials talking about how corrupt the company is and how it is battling in court over it's questionable practices. Maybe hear people call up ChatterBox and talk about how they don't buy RON fuel. Then Lazlow could question them (just like the C.R.A.P. lady) and ask how that person gets around and especially out of the city [hypothetically] considering that they are the ruthlessly dominant fuel monopoly of the city and force everyone to use their brand. Or, if that's played out, maybe they could spark some humor by occasionally having peds protesting at gas stations by lighting themselves on fire? But maybe that's pushing it a bit too far. As for working fuel stations, I don't know about that whole subject. Anything beyond peds using them I'm still undecided on pretty much. Good find though. SnoopyDoggy
Also you guys know the Hove Beach is in Carney Island, which is a Coney Island in real life. Well here's what I've found: QUOTE Hove is a next-door neighbour of Brighton, on the south coast of England. Brighton and Hove form a single conurbation, and in 2000 the two towns gained official recognition as the city of Brighton & Hove. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hove well there's an actual beach near Coney Island, which is called... Brighton Beach. Also the area surrounding it is a Russian neighborhood. see the connection, rockstar north is in uk, what do u guys think

Sanshiro
I think the logo 'RON' is a spoof of the famous large oil company CHEVRON. I'm pretty sure of this since it was shown on the oil plant that appeared in the red-car-being-bulletholed scene.

dertyjerzian
I'd just like to point out and add to the list there that cluckin bell is not only a taco bell parody. Many taco bells have teamed with KFC, and, for instance, about 3 miles up rt 49 from my house is a taco bell/kfc. This is certainly where cluckin bell comes from, not just tacos Awesome list gareth, I never would have made the ecoli e-cola connection on my own! Singey
I think more than anything the Cluckin' Bell franchise is based on Taco Bell however I dont think it has any relation to KFC. I believe its simple a play on words because it almost sounds like F*ckin Hell. Theres also the blackadder relation. Im not quite sure what you mean by the KFC relation, it seems more logical with the explanation above.
DanKaries
the FIDL market sports german products. thats why this franchise was identified as a spoof of LIDL. but there is also VERDI, where you can buy similar products. so i guess, that VERDI is a reference to ALDI. call me an idiot, but meanwhile i fell pretty sure. cu <dan>

Well, RON is back, and we finally know what it is: Put RON in your tank - does this give any insight or clues into Fuel Stations? This solves my question thanks Geomy. RON?!? Is this a type of name brand clothing in GTAIV maybe so. Notice the guy in the white t-shirt it says "Ron" Notice the building says "Ron" this could be a type of brand in GTAIV they already have Zip, Aris Running Shoes , BoBo The Ape etc.
Brish
As you can see, I circled a movie (or play) advertisement for 'The Gulls'. This is an obvious allusion to Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds': Info It has that old horror film style to it. Also notice the ratings at the sides (two stars) and the Cluckin' Bell logo towards the bottom.

jimmyjojo
Somebody should start listing out the names of neighborhoods and landmarks and their names meanings now that new info is coming in about those. They mentioned the names Rotterdam Hill and Castle Gardens in the new magazine article. Castle Hill is probably the Battery Park area, since it's said to look over the Statue of Happiness, and also Battery Park has an old fort in it called Castle Clinton. Rotterdam Hill could be somewhere on the west side, which contains Amsterdam Ave. in reality, but I don't really know for sure what that's supposed to be. Any ideas?
