First off, a lot of stellar suggestions. Gimme Shelter (probably the best Rolling Stones song), No Sleep Til Brooklyn, Dropkick, Public Enemy....very easy to imagine all of these. Then again, I'm seeing a lot of songs that appear to be the poster's favorite "alternative" track back in 1999. Looking back at the soundtracks in past games, it seems that they choose mostly current songs or throwbacks, not much in between. I just can't imagine alternative songs from the late 90's making an appearance, moreso metal from the 80's (this is 2007 New York, not 1989 Tennessee). We must also consider the fact that these songs are condusive to driving. This means generally shorter songs that you would naturally hear on FM radio, assuming most of the stations/tracks will follow FM radio styings. Given this is based off of the city of New York, and given the game's target audience, you'll hear some rap/hip-hop, quasi-punk/emo/scene/whatever's hot for suburban highschoolers, electronic, 70's/80's, and something off the wall (disco?). I think they'll definately play off of the city's vibe and throw in some old school punk, lyrical hip hop, and indie. I bet that they will have about a bunch of new stations with new music and one custom station where you can dl songs onto your Xbox or PS3 harddrive and play in the game. thats the first thing Ill check when I get the game, and if its possible I might just come to tears.
