Cyc2u
Theres nothing wrong with my game or anything, but im wondering what configuration everyone uses with this whacked out, unrealistic driving camera. I cannot get the camera to lock behind the vehicle permanently, so everytime i take a sharp corner i am looking at the side or front of my vehicle. It takes like 2 full seconds for the camera to swing around back again, and by that time ive slammed into a wall or another car that i couldnt see. It isnt like this in VC or 3. What happened in SA? Also if you drive too fast the camera goes so low that your vehicle blocks your view in front of you. I tried turning off steer with mouse, i never actually "steer" w/mouse, but with it off i can move the cam with the mouse, but trying to drive, concentrate, plus move your view all over is way too hard. With the mouse steering option on i can right click and hold then drag to move the view, but since its now in mouse steering mode, if it moves left or right a hair without holding down a button it flings the car off the road. I dont understand why the game wont let me see in front of me all the time. This driving blind is frustrating. The game has a lot of races in them and they are fun when i can see. But take a corner and its like closing your eyes and hoping for the best. How does everyone do it? Cyc2u
Since i seem to be the only one here having trouble on this i FINALLY figured it out by googling the problem. In case any other PC users have trouble the best solution is.... HANDS OFF THE MOUSE! No other way to do it. I found out as soon as you have mouse look on and touch the mouse even slightly, even to hit a button, the game thinks you want to control the camera yourself, so it waits about 2 or 3 full seconds until theres no more movement from you before going back behind the car. Not using a mouse messes me up but i can readjust. I normally have handbrake as RMB and MMB as look behind, and did it that way in 3 and VC. Ive now switched it to spacebar for handbrake and "b" for look behind. It feels funny but at least i can see in front of me most of the time now. The other mouse option for steering is even worse because if i click the RMB and the mouse moves slightly my car will fling to the right, and same with LMB, it flies to the left. There is still the problem of going uphill too fast the camera drops too low and your car blocks your view, but ill have to deal with it and hope for the best. PC Mouse options in SA are the worst. It must be a lot easier on PS2, ive seen some vids on youtube and it looks easier to drive and see whats ahead of you.
