Justin
Brown Thunder makes it easy... If you're in the air in the Hunter, there's really nothing that should be able to stop you aside from your own boredom. Just don't fly into the scenery and take care of any law-enforcement aircraft quickly and you're good to go. The wanted level is relatively meaningless in the Hunter. When using the Hunter do not use rockets unless the criminals are parked all together and then get rid of stars with bribes. Memorize Hotdog Truck locations and which direction of approach to spawn because it is always the same with little chance of having to try again but a second time from proper approach direction will do. Never go into reserants for food to prevent starving use the Hotdog Trucks. Fat Max before you start. work on flying technique. Remember chain guns almost exclusively for the kills except in rare excetion mentioned above. If you need any more pointers let me know. Happy Hunting! System Error
Fly into the wanted star icons that are all over the map. The thing I don't like about SAM is that it's kind of bulky. I whipped this map up in an hour. It should be printable to use as a quick-reference during gameplay. The locations are color coded to tell you how useful they might be in Brown Thunder. Red - Definite possibility. It's out in the open, or even in the air. Green - A good choice. Yellow - Difficult to get near due to obstacles, but if you're desperate, then by all means go for it. Blue - Don't even bother. In case you want one without the color codings (for all other purposes), look here. OT> You can also park your Hunter at Wang Autos and get the PayNspray method and then get back into your Hunter too.....Remember to park near the back so your Hunter is never out of sight though. Great way too reduce stars if in the area. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/273648-vigilante-help/#findComment-4167110 Share on other sites
tacojoe
Thank you all for the help but with Brown Thunder, I completely suck. I can't get passed the second level. There are some pilot races that will hone some skill at LV airport the one with the Hunter is pretty good. Which GTA SA console/system are you using? Practice just flying low trough and around obsticles at high speed...turn quick using the rotor and go around buildings....frighten some cars with the chain gun and then chase them almost touching them but not firing at all while still avoiding other obstacles. When doing Vigilante with the Hunter don't use the rockets except as I previously posted which means hardly at all......Aim and fire the chain guns using your normal auto aim you use on normal CJ run around mode. The thing is there isn't a targeting marker like normal weapons. So it takes awhile to get used to but it aims and redirects fast. Targets go up quick "Kaboom". An average level with the Hunter should take under 40 Seconds to stay on top of things. CassiusDio
I did the following. Grab a minigun with plenty of ammo and go to Verdant Meadows airstrip where you did the flight training. Make sure you have plenty of space in the main hanger. Minigun the respawning aircraft to start off gaining wanted stars. Stand in front of the main hanger. Kill any cops that show up, the only vehicles you can't destroy are the tanks which show up when you've got 6 stars. When the tanks show up let one follow you into the hanger. Run like hell to your save game disk. The tank will be saved in your hanger. If you try this in other locations like CJ's San Fierro Garage, CJ's Mom's House or the Four Dragons Casino you will have to wait until the tank crew man jumps out with his M4. Kill the driver and then save. Other Safe House locations the tanks may disappear when you save. Use the Tank for vigilante. It's good for as long as the armour lasts which can be some time.. I do enjoy the Tank yet the Hunter is my perfered method particularly if going for higher than normal levels and have 12 or more hours (Real Time) to dedicate to the mission. CassiusDio
One thing I found odd about the tank is that it trys to run you over as opposed to blowing the living proverbial out of you with its gun. That's why in some situations it is less effective than other police vehicles. But once you get your hands on it, the gun makes it really good for vigilante. HolyGrenadeFrenzy
Here is the thread with it and even though I have editted certain parts out the editted parts are still there if you scan others posts well....Also It took a total of 12.5 hours spread over a period of 5.5 days. I really needed the stress break and I was in a flow that time and paced it well. The whole thread is full of good data but there are other threads from the time period that are good too. So I use more than just one type of vehicle on such missions and have them placed at key garages. @TheTank's request! {Vigilante lvl. 1,416, yet I have plans to raise the bar again. gillies
^ so do I, but your wanted levels do go up faster if you use the rockets, but if you use bribes it doesn't matter. HolyGrenadeFrenzy
@Mixodylian and gillies> I agree it is fun! Speaking for endurance and building your timer up, though. After your timer gets up just as long as you leave a 20 minute buffer do what you want with whatever and have fun....shooting at other cars to knock the criminals in the water. That is fun too. Rockets YEAH, with the timer not being an issue having unlimited rocket firepower is allot of fun. But if going for endurance is the game you should also remember about added risk(I imagine this final statement in a droney, dress warm and eat your vegetables tone) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/273648-vigilante-help/#findComment-4172667 Share on other sites
Mixolydian
A lot of the time I can blow up the criminals' cars faster with rockets than with the machine guns. Sometimes I can't, so I swoop in and do a barrage of rockets and machine guns. In any case, the timer is rarely an issue for me, as I generally outlast my computer. I do use bribes, and so the wanted level isn't a big deal. It's pretty easy to manage, what with there being so many bribes available. Yeah, but the chain guns are more accurate really and less dangerous to you the Hunter's survival and with no stars it is still less damage control than the rockets and if people are having difficulty damage control is an issue. Wouldn't you agree? On my big runs I probrably use the rockets on 100 missions or so maybe even a little more but my big mission runs are to lvl l000+ so 1 in 10 is still low by comparison and until lvl oh....50+ I usually don't bother with the rockest because I don't need the drag of going after bribes while focussing on a target and a timer increase before my first hunger break for CJ. tacojoe
My Hunter does not have a chaingun. It has an old crappy gun(like the Rustler) and it is as strong as an AK. The only way I can aim is by tilting the helicopter which ends up with my heli exploding, crashing, scraping, etc. Ahh, I see. You have a problem many do, including me at one time. The Hunter's guns are better than they appear but you have to use your standard aiming button to get it to aim properly and let go and push it again after each finishing shot. The real problem is that the aiming indicators for the gun are not visible like with every other weapon in the game and it doesn't do anything but fire out if not used in the manner I am suggesting.....I discovered this myself from trial and error. I wonder how few are aware of it considering I haven't seen it talked about in quite some time on the Forums? It auto aims if you use the aiming button but not if you don't this change from GTA VC took me awhile to get used to but I finally did as the GTP Record Book shows. Are you saying that you can aim the Hunter rockets like the heat-seeking gun?! Negative, the chain guns can be aimed. The aim indicator is non visual like it is for other weapons though. Unless I am mistaken and I really don't believe I am because for me using the PS2 it is the difference of the R1 button while pushing the L1 button vs just using the the L1 button with terrible results by comparison. It should use the same control with whatever is relevent for the system used however. This is part of why I am pro chain gun vs. rocket most of the time. It uses the same controls though, at least for me but there is no aim indicator.(the glowing or twirling symbols around the target) so it is guess work and watching which gets shot up that tell me. You can still change targets too but it isn't as easy because of control limitations and the indicator being invisible.
