Stuck at 99%!

Recommended Posts

Cyc2u

On my PC version of VC i completed everything on the 100% list but it says 99%. Can anyone please look over my save and see what I missed?

I never ever use cheats or mods! So that is definitely not the case. There must be a race or stat thats missing or isnt high enough.

http://gtasnp.com/2022

It was in the 2nd slot titled Keep Your Friends Close, if that matters.

I believe i figured out the problem but i dont know how to fix it.

In my stats, both Trial by Dirt and Test Track say the exact same time of 3:13.

I hopped on the dirtbike and redid that one and did it in 2:23, beating the old record, but it said "You failed to break your previous record".

Whats going on?? confused.gif

Before you completed the game at 99%, did you successfully passed the side-missions for both *Trial by Dirt* and *Test Track* flawlessly and with the usual "Mission Passed"?

It's interesting how you ended up getting the same time for them. Try and redo the dirtvan and see if the game says you beat your previous record. You'd better hope that the game didn't somehow "fused" the two missions into one, making your stats think you passed only one. Although it may seem that you worked miracles and managed to end up getting the same time for whatever unknown reason(s) I would like to know?

Another thing to do is to try passing "Keep Your Friends Close" again, the final mission of the game although this may not work. Just a note: sometimes you need to answer all of the phone calls before you can get 100%.

EDIT: So Spuds already fixed it? I knew it had to be some sort of conflict. Well, I tried beating the time of 3:13 and the game said I had failed to pass the already broken record. Must because I didn't redo the mission with the van...

Use Ancestral Recall to determine what you're missing.

PS: Cheats do not prevent obtaining 100% completion statistics.

[EDIT] Problem 13 in the pinned bug list.

I redid Test Track and beat the 3:13 time. It said i set a new record and it shows in the stats, but im still at 99%. But the dirtbike one, I cannot get it to set a new record even though i can do the course in 2 minutes, my stat still says 3:13 for it and "you failed to set a new record" message.

btw i saw this in the sticky but it doesnt give a solution, at least redoing them isnt working. Plus that bug says there is no time shown, and i have a time of 3:13 showing in the stats.

I tried that mod and it doesnt work either. I replaced my american.gxt with the one i unzipped, started my game, and its the same as always. Theres nothing on my screen telling me what im missing. theres another file called ancestralrecall.scm but the directions doesnt say where to put it or what to do with it.

Is there a way to reset these 2 courses?

I have the same time glitch for those races- on PS2 (covered in the bug list-- pinned) - if you have times for both they should both be counting toward your 100%...

Let me look at your save...

give me a minute...

//edit//

grr... the SNP host page doesn't want to load.

You can check out my "stuck at 99% guide" link in my sig....

Most likely its the rifle range-- the most easily missed side mission.

//edit//

I finally got your save downloaded... I did not see anything missing in your stats that was readily apparent.

Their is definitely a reload animation when you fire sub machine gun, and you are only firing about 3 rockets every 2 seconds or so-- I don't believe you have fast reload... you are most likely missing the rifle range... this is NOT in your stats-- the "shooter" score is from the mission for Phil.

You must repeat the rifle range at the downtown ammunation and get a score of 45 on the first part (the only part when you repeat this)--- it is very tough to get a score of 45.

From my 99% guide....

[_] Shooting Range (score of 45)-- gives you fast reload-- you can verify only if you know the difference between fast and normal reload-- you should be able to fire 3 rockets (with the rocket launcher) in 1 second with fast reload-- if its slower then this, you likely don't have the shooting range done.  Also, when firing a SMG-- there is a long pause when you empty a clip and you can see the animation of tommy reloading-- if quick reload is enabled, the animation is disabled-- there should only be a real quick reload pause.

Instructions are here. It's pretty simple, and looks like your best bet as far as identifying what's missing in your bid to get to 100%.

[EDIT] Spuds probably has you covered now, but Ancestral will do the same thing without time delays. wink.gif

What a coincidence -- I thought too that it was Rifle Range side-missions and I just assumed that he did it already because I supposedly saw it in his stats. blush.gif Wow, I really thought that it was because of Trial by Dirt and Test Track. Question: Does R* really make some game have bugs while others don't? Cause I find that interesting. I think the workaround would be to complete them in a specific order like "Trial by Dirt" first and Test Track last, or vice versa. Somehow I didn't get the bug when doing these two missions.

It's actually pretty simple to get a score of 45. If people don't read the instructions before the mission starts, then they'd not get a score of 45 fast! PS2 version is the hardest to do this; PC gamers should feel lucky with their precise mouse. All you have to do is to quickly shoot the 3rd farthest target so that you can get more points earlier for your initial bullets... smile.gif More and more targets at the back will keep spawning quickly the more you shoot at them without missing of course. And you don't really have to worry about controlling the mouse at all, just position the cursor where the target's body will go and shoot as soon as it is in the range of the mouse cursor. Heck, I find that I miss a lot at the closest target! lol

OMG it must be the shooting range!! suicidal.gif

I thought i whizzed this because my stats say 76 points for shooter and 93% accuracy at shooting range. And Shooter of the Month trophy at Oceanview. I thought i only needed 45 points but this must be something different. I just tried the shooting range after reading this and its tough! I got 38 points after a few tries and i thought i did well. So i must not have passed that part. I also notice i can only do the pistol part now, when i did the missions there i could do the back room challenge.

Ill have to practice up on that.

Thanks very much!!!!! icon14.gifrah.gif

You will be rewarded with 100% accuracy if you shoot only 1 target. The instructions clearly states that the farthest target gives you 3 points. Middle target is 2 points. Closest target worth 1 point. So obviously you'd want to keep shooting at the heads and the bodily parts of the the farthest target first so that you can get more points with your limited bullet amount.

Thanks again guys I got 46 at the shooting range and hit 100%. icon14.gif

Like Ring of Fire says, concentrating on the farthest target helps.

That was probably the hardest thing in the game for me. I miss a lot. It made paramedic and The Driver look easy. I guess i was too used to the gatlin gun where you hold down fire and spray the area. biggrin.gif

It's easy to get a score of 60+ if you are very precise with using your mouse. I normally just position the mouse at the part where the target will move to, and once the block goes near the mouse cursor, I shoot twice to hit the first block and the next block will get shot at automatically depending on the rate it's going. Since the whole body is moving at the same time, you don't necessarily have to keep moving the mouse to another block. The only time you have to is if you are aiming at another target, or if you want to move the mouse cursor towards another upper/lower level block or the head. This simply means you shouldn't have too much trouble using your mouse to hit two blocks that are on the same levels of the body.

Now that you have 100%, what are you going to do... some glitches? There's this trick that I know about for Vice City, I'm going to post it in another forum thread. It's interesting that Rockstar programming for Vice City is kinda weird. They actually managed and had found out the tricks people use to do glitches with and implemented a collision detection that's sturdy for San Andreas. As for Vice City Stories, I have no idea if Vice City has the same programming structure like VCS.

I should have been a little more accurate in my post-- the rifle range is extremely difficult on PS2-- even only aiming at the last target-- I don't think I ever got more then 45 on it-- I know my first time, I got 45 right as time expired.

I just got VC on PC and haven't played it much yet... the controls are kind of irritating to me so far--- I'm not much of a PC gamer-- I enjoy gaming on PS2 (soon PS3)...

He got 100%-- was missing rifle range.

And there is no evidence cheating prevents 100%---other then those that can't be turned off and prevent you from accomplishing 100% tasks.... example peds riot can prevent you from completing taxi sub-mission...
