San Andreas on Windows Vista

Recommended Posts

well i tried re=installing, and using every capatability option, and still no change, and my video card, or "adapter" as my vista system refers to it, is an intell (insert numbers here)G Chipset Family

EDIT: My Graphics "Adapter" is an Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Family, and i called support to verify i had completely up-to-date stuff, and the guy said i did so im at a loss

I had issues with version 1 of San andreas in vista. Since i wasnt able to update it i couldnt play, I bought it off steam and its pretty much fine. Every now and again it will crash but its definatly playable. whats more painfull is all the workaround to mod the gta.img file smile.gif

Solution to random crashes and mouse lock-ups is here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=307676

I had a few mouse lockups when running SA On my vista (Which has 4GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 256MB, 3.0GHZ Intel Pentium 4 now). I find pausing the game then continue playing helps, but when the mouse stops working and you pause the game may get stuck and freeze.

Had letters and pixils problems

Found out that most under 1200$ computers with Vista have underpowered Video cards.

Replaced the video card and now I can see for miles with the graphics cranked to full power in the game.

That is the best option. If you're wondering how high the bar at the top got (higher the smoother the game will be, here is what i got) It's good how it tells you if you meeted the minimum or recommended requirements smile.gif

That is what i got.

ok just wana add, i got vista had crashing problems as i couldnt start it all the time, so from advise from some nice people here changed to windows 98 compatability mode and it sorted it out!

probably re post but most people said use xp but it works better with 98,

I only just got past the minimum bar! sad.gif

No problem, just lower the display settings. Can you please post your system specs?

SA Version 1 (the original) works smooth as silk on my system biggrin.gif

Factory OC'ed HD 3850 (512MB) from VisionTek

(Highest Vista scores I've seen on any machine.....5.7 Processor, 5.9 everything else)

That's great. Your specs are better then mine, better card, processor and same amount of RAM.

Are you able to turn the display settings to the highest and play without lag?

Yeah....Anti-Aliasing is at 3, resolution 1440x900x32 (max resolution of my 19" LCD).

I've noticed though that in the cities, even w/all my modded cars, the difference is only slight. Getting out into the country though is where I start to notice a more substantial difference.

Hi,

I'm trying to run GTA:SA on my laptop with the following hardware:

Vista Ultimate (64 bit)

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz

Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family 358MB

2GB RAM

The game installs correctly but when i try to run it an error message pops up saying:

Please remove disc from current CD/DVD drive and insert the original

disc

in another drive ?:.

With that exact format and the dots at the end and everything. I only have 1 disc drive so i have no idea what to do.

Could anyone help me?

Did it get sorted out now? Have never encountered that problem myself but I am sure someone will be able to help you either way biggrin.gif

Could someone help me with a fix for the "Please remove disc" error that pops up after a fresh install? I just got a new laptop, Vista 64 OS, and it will not recognized the DVD. I have the original DVD version of GTA:SA, 1.0. Could someone please help me with a fix for this error? I'd love to be able to play SA again when I dont have an internet connection around.

Did you re-insert the disk after the install? If so did the game work?

I find SA Will work fine on Vista. Since it works amazing for me on Vista Home Premuim, I should post my specs to help.

RAM: 1.0gb. And game works very well with that

Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT 256mb. Game works well with this, runs pretty good.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz.

So, here are the specs you should have for running SA On Vista.

RAM: 1gb at least. I recommend 2gb to be safe though, although I was fine with 1.0gb devil.gif

Graphics card: Nvidia or ATI (With at least 256mb for the game to work well, and all up to date drivers)

CPU: Not too important, SA Worked worked fine on My Celeron CPU (1.5ghz), and game worked fine. I suggest at least a 1.5ghz cpu, or higher.

Usually a lot of problems are caused by a low amount of RAM (512mb), and a video card under 128mb.

Ofcause it works with Vista, why wouldnt it? Its not like Vista is incomptabil with everything not coded for it.. I've played Counter-strike 1.5 on vista 64bit which is pretty old and it worked just fine.. so stop have thoughts about vista when you really dont know anything about it.. its not THAT bad!

Are any of you playing GTA San Andreas on Windows Vista?

I have windows vista but have not installed GTA San Andreas onto my computer yet, I was wondering if anybody our there had and what they thought of it on the new operating system!

I don't think gta sa will work on Vista.

Ok, you may be right but have you actually tried it? I went onto a gaming website where they have tried it on Vista and it plays perfectly fine, they said they had no problems with the game! Whooo, go GTA!

im playing gta sa on vista it works ok the only problem is u need a good graphics card

if u like putting your mods on it all it does is crash the game!

you need the no cd crack i have it if u have e-mail i will e-mail the no cd crack to you

Not tried San Andreas yet but I have tried GTA3 on Vista and it works fine, no problem at all. Didn't need to set the compatibility mode or anything.

My graphics card is GeForce 8600m GS by the way.

GTA3 Works better then SA On Vista, so it will. I never needed to use Compatibilty, with GTA3 But I had to with San Andreas.
