ajb123644
What do the violation errors do? And how do you stop them?I think that Microsoft will fix the lag issues on Vista in the near future but it all seems to be well and good. Do you run the game in administrator mode? That might solve the problem. I don't know what those errors do. I stop them with task manager. I find sa-mp.exe process and press End Process. I tried to run the game in Administrator mode, but it didn't help. Oh because I looked up san andreas on Vista on the internet and one gaming company said that they tried several games on Vista and one of them was absolutely fine and ran perfectly. They said there were no problems so it suprises me with what you said and considering it is meant to be a top game you would have thought microsoft would have thought about that. Also have you tried changing the compatibility mode to run san andreas on XP rather than on Vista?
Exogen
XP is perfectly fine with me. I really wouldn't bother getting vista if I were you. Anyways, I'd bet it works. And if it doesn't, there must be some solution

Ring_of_Fire
The bottomline is that the game will work on Vista, or else T2 Support would have dealt with the problem by now for the sake of this "San Andreas on Windows Vista" thread. As you can see, many people have gotten it to work. We have options like compatibility mode as a start.

offthewall
San Andreas works alright on my computer with Vista Ultimate, but the game will lag on any display setting you adjust it to, even if it's in 16 bit color. I used to play this game with everything maxed out on Windows XP, with 32 bit color and it wouldn't lag at all. The sound also works perfectly fine on this game, as long as you can get the sound to work on your computer. When I installed Vista it didn't have any sound drivers that would support my hardware so I had to find them online to get my sound working. My pc specs: Pentium 4 2.4Ghz 2gb of ram Geforce FX 5700LE, 256mb

Wel i went on San Andreas the other day on vista after I had installed it and it worked just as well as it did on XP for me. It didnt lag one bit or anything. I am quite happy with this as you can tell due to the fact that it does actually work! Anyway kguys thanks for putting your issues and supporting this post on the forum. downtheory
I installed GTA San Andreas a few weeks back and it ran perfectly. I had everything maxed out and running in 1280x1024 resolution, averaging 60 fps or more. Which, for me is surprising, since I`m running on Vista Ultimate... My PC specs: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 1gb Ram (2x 512mb sticks) Nvidia eVGA Geforce 7600 GT PCI-E x16 256mb 280gb HDD Space (2x Western Digital Drives) Windows Vista Ultimate x86 By todays standards its not that tough of a gaming pc, but it surprises me. I can run almost all the latest/newest games so far with no problesm (excluding Splinter Cell Double Agent, but thats another story). I have no sound or graphical problems whatsoever. I have to agree with offthewall though, when I installed Vista, it came with no sound drivers as well, but it found them for me and I have no probs. Just thought I`d share my experiences with GTA on Vista Ultimate so far.

carcols.dat
Well, my new HP Pavilion Slimline s3100y box is scheduled to be delivered this Thursday. Here are my specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 1.86GHz 2GB RAM 160GB HD Vista Ultimate (32-bit) 256MB nVidia Geforce 7500LE ("loser edition"??? Read that on some other site) Cost only $970, without the LCD screen. I bought it off Costco.com. Does anyone know if I'll be able to properly run SA? I know I have the more than enough specs, but I read somewhere that GeForce 7500LE's suck (they're not so overpriced, though.) Why did that come with 32-bin Vista? That is a 64-bit processor. I'm sure there 64-bit drivers for all of that.

I have tried changing the compatibility mode without any luck. i've got all the updated drivers. Bleh. Any last ideas? That is really wierd, what Vista version are you running on? Mine crashed, well actually it froze for the first time two days ago. It is wierd but I dont mind as it hasnt lagged or done it before, I went to save the game and it froze. But hey I had done quite a few missions up to that point and would sy I had been on it so far for a good three or four hours so I think it has done well so far. Microsoft should sort out Vista to support games like this, I think this happened on a lot of games when they bought out XP, they just need to update Vista to stop things crashing. I have Battelfield 2 and that crashes, well freezes a lot sometimes so there is a problem there, let us hope Microsoft fixes them all!

Vista does support it well and nothing is wrong with it, just be careful with what you are running on your pc and it should be ok. Microsoft will sort out some of the crash problems on Vista hopefully. This happens what do you expect, it is a new operating system after all? carcols.dat
I agree, it is a new OS, but its been in development for quite a time. Many regular people like me have been messing around with it ever since Vista Beta 1 was released in 2005. We have created replica's of it for XP, down to the finest of details. While it is true that not that many people are using the current retail version, I think MS has had more than enough time to perfect it. Anyway, I finally got my new Vista . For those who are remotely curious, it runs very smoothly. I'd read around that the Vista installation process was very rigorous; not in my case. It came preinstalled in a partition drive. The only thing I had to do was go through the initial setup, which took less than half an hour. I also have the option of burning a fresh copy of Vista a CD, which I'll do as soon as a get myself a pack of blank DVDs. Oh, and one more thing; this is the smallest and most powerful PC (this is a PC, not a desktop) I've ever had. It's so small that I currently have it running from inside a book shelf! I will now proceed to installing SA ... I'll post my results sometime next week. Edited July 7, 2007 by Darlyn

ajb123644
I havent been on San Andreas since it last crashed but I will hopefully be going on it again soon. If it does crash again then I am going to look into a lot more and maybe contact Rock Star and get a petition together to see whether they can update the game to stop it crashing by releasing a new patch. i know the company is busy on GTA 4 but really they should try and sort out San Andreas first! What do you guys think?
Ring_of_Fire
AJ, learn how to edit your post. i know the company is busy on GTA 4 but really they should try and sort out San Andreas first! What do you guys think? I think it would be a dumb idea because most people already have San Andreas running perfectly fine on Vista. It's up to the user to try and fix their own problems. R* doesn't provide support for only a few people who don't have the game up and running - it has to be a whole lot! I have these PC specs: AMD Althon 64 3200+ 2.0GHz MSI MS-7093 RS480 (Xpress 200) Realtek AC'97 Audio ATi Radeon X1950 PRO 1GB of RAM Windows XP Home SP2 Certainly an aged-out computer, but I am going to upgrade to Vista just to see what you guys are always having problems with. As long as my chipset maker indicates that there are Vista drivers available for all my motherboard components, I'm cool. I suppose though Vista will be sorted out by Miscrosoft so that it doesnt crash on games, as I have heard it sometimes crashes on some of them. Several times I have been on the menu for Battlefield 2 and it has froazen and says it isnt responding so yeah I think it will be ok though! What Vista you getting? ItsmeCharly
My XP computer updated it's Video Drivers. Since then almost everything except cutscenes run slow. CJ is cut to pieces before he can turn around. bought a new computer with Vista: Boy do I dislike it. regarding SA. I have 'sheets' of alphabet as background to the dagger selector on the menues. The letters have sparkling picels.some letters not even visible. Triangular outlines on scenes. and game runs poorly. re vista, I have other games which I frequently copy the save files into other folders for replay. Took forever to find the save files, because Vista dosen't want the user to access 'valuable' files for deletiion.., I consider Vista as definately User UNfriendly to experienced users . I got the same vista problem as this guy, anyone know a way to fix it?
