tacojoe
Can someone please give me tips and tricks on how to beat the air vehicle race "Military Service" with the Hydra. It is really hard for me. I am usually good at flying the Hydra but I can'y pass this race. Thank You. I just need tips, not a game save. crazyanurag
well, if you have the time and patience, then just complete the "race" in VTOL (i.e. helicopter) mode...sure, it'll take you about 15-20 minutes, but you'll be done with it... if you want to complete it in the jet-mode, then you'll have to learn the route very well, failing which, you'll repeatedly whiz past the coronas and crash into random things...so in this mode make sure that you only use the throttle when you're sure of the coming direction changes, and otherwise, take it slow... Mixolydian
Pay attention to the way each corona is facing, because they are set to point in the general direction of the next corona. This way you will know what way you will be going well ahead of time. Rudder steering is good for quickly rotating the plane to point it in the right direction, as well as for fine tuning your direction. To make a sharp turn, bank the plane almost 90 degrees, pull back on the yoke (like when you want the plane to go upward), and use the rudder that rotates the nose of the plane towards the ground so that the nose doesn't pull up during the turn. There are a bunch of bridges in the vicinity of the Verdant Meadows airstrip...one on the freeway to the east, two separating the airstrip from the ocean, and a natural bridge called Arco del Oeste. Practice flying under those bridges without damaging the plane. Near the end of the race, there is one corona that can be difficult to locate because it's not generally visible until you've turned a fair bit after the prior corona. You just have to get the feel of this one. Otherwise, is there anything specific that is causing problems for you?
