t.v.2007
I just went out and bought San Andreas 2nd Edition for PC. For some reason it has terrible lag, and I can't pinpoint the reason. My comp plays WoW and other games fine. Here are my system specs: -Windows XP SP2 -Pentium 4 2.4Ghz -1 gig ram -ATI Radeon 9600 Series 128mb Thanks in advance for any help. Justin
What settings are you running on? If you're playing at the highest, you're likely to experience lag regardless of your system. t.v.2007
With all settings at their lowest, it still lags. =/ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/273105-laggg/#findComment-4154429 Share on other sites

crazyanurag
try these things: update your graphics and sound card drivers delete the .SET file (gta_sa.set) located in the GTA SA User Files directory play with these settings:Frame Limiter: Off Anti-Aliasing: Off MIP Mapping: Off Draw Distance: Low-Medium Visual FX Quality: Low Resolution: 800x600x32 turn off all background application when playing, even your Anti-Virus, if possible You'll Never Walk Alone Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/273105-laggg/#findComment-4155671 Share on other sites
379
Right click on your taskbar and click Task Manager. Go to processes. Arrange them by username and find the ones not by System. End then all except for explorer.exe and any your computer says you cant end. Then you run GTA. If you crash your computer, it's your fault, you closed something under the System accound or closed explorer.exe(basically, your desktop). tacojoe
Get a new graphics card. I was experiencing the same thing with and nvidia card. I got a newer, better one. It now runs on max resolution at Low settings. Highest settings will always lag. Too much realtime shading. Cyc2u
My NVidia card works fine on SA. Its a 128meg. I had the same problem as you. What I did was lowered the draw distance and it helped a lot. Also, because i can barely tell a difference in resolutions and color depth, i run it in 800x600x16. I tried switching to 1024x768x32 and couldnt really tell a visual difference, the only difference to me was that it ran slower. If those things dont work then another gig of ram will help. I recently went from 1 to 2 gig and afterwards i was able to raise the draw distance more. ram is pretty cheap and simple to install. t.v.2007
Unfortunately, my comp only has two memory slots, which are occupied by 2 512mb. So, I would have to by 2gigs of memory which sucks but I guess I'll have to. On another note, my brother has a Dell XPS which runs GTA:SA in all the highest settings on 1024x768 resolution. It's a pretty decent system. -Windows XP SP2-Pentium 4 3.4Ghz -2 gig ram -Radeon X1650 Series Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/273105-laggg/#findComment-4165725 Share on other sites
