I have to say, though, this doesn't seem to be kept actively updated - I mean, there's quite a lot of stuff that should surely warrant being on here that has yet to be included. I think the general 5 chapters rule is a little unneeded - the forum isn't overly active, surely it wouldn't be too hard to keep it up to date when a new topic is posted? It's not as though there's a constant influx of new pieces that get started, and the majority of them are either seen through to completion or do get underway a significant bit. Just a few thoughts. Eminence Posted June 20, 2007 Share Posted June 20, 2007 The original library was somewhat like that. Tt was organized basically into 3 sections - Prose, Poetry and Others. Others was fairly small though, containing some essays and stuff that were posted, as well as a few other random things. I guess it would make some sense to do this, but split Prose up into series' and short stories, then follow this with a poetry section and (if the need arises ) others. I'd like to see it be split up again, anyway. It is starting to look a little jumbled up, despite the alphabetical listings. Categories help people look for things easier. Aside fanfics, original (prose) and poetry pieces there are no other kinds of writing here. We could split between short stories and series, but a poetry category just wouldn't have enough pieces. We could add a misc. section, but then again, what would it include? We could also think about splitting them into fanfics and original pieces. That would clear up a lot, in my opinion. Eminence Posted June 20, 2007 Share Posted June 20, 2007 Hmm, that's also another good idea - differentiating between original pieces and fanfics. Although there's always some that would kinda fit into both categories. Take TerminalGTA's GTA IV: Vandenburg, for example - it's an original piece, as nothing links it to any of the GTAs, but in the same way it's a fanfic due simply to the way it's named as such. I think a good way to begin splitting them would be to simply split between short stories and series, as already mentioned. After that, add in a miscellaneous section for poetry (there's Candarelli's and also 40ozFreaks lately... there may be one or two others lying around) and perhaps anything else that arises. Of course, there are a few exceptions, like my L.A.N.C.E. one, which would only fit the fanfic category. For example, the one containing fanfics would be huge, and then there would be a smaller table underneath featuring original works. I guess the same can be said for series vs short stories too - the table containing short pieces would be much smaller. Oh well!
