XtcRacer
Hello everyone, I'm new here, so please bare with me on this. I'd like to start a mission, sort of thing, To replace every vehicle, weapon, and building In GTA: San Andreas. Now I know what you're all thinking, I have no life right? Wrong. I just have alot of time on my hands now since I'm done with college and It's our summer vacation, and I'm prepaired to spend half of the time doing this. So, the real question here, Is there a limit to how many mods I put In San Andeas? And If there Is a limit, what Is It? Here's my PC specs just for the hell of It. GPU: Intel Intergrated 128MB CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Processor # 3.00GHz RAM: 512MB HDD: 250GB Thanks a mill, David Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/272789-is-there-such-a-thing-as-too-many-mods/ Share on other sites
dertyjerzian
basically, you may add, give or take, about 5 new things to SA without stripping it to start fresh. No, there is no limit as far as YOU are concerned. You want to totally replace the game (or total-convert it) you need to visit steve-m.com and get the map cleaner, read it's readme and be on your way. If you dont quit in between now and reaching ANY limits, we well help you Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/272789-is-there-such-a-thing-as-too-many-mods/#findComment-4148361 Share on other sites
ntlofub
To elaborate more clearly, the limit dertyjerzian is referring to only applies to models you wish to add to the game. However, there is no limit as far as replacing. The game's engine doesn't recognize the fact it has been modded, it simply loads all the files and launches. The unfortunate fact is, 98% of these "missions" (which we refer to as Total Conversions) fail miserably. I strongly advise you read the Starter's Guide To Total Conversions. XtcRacer
Thanks alot guys, appreciate the links & concerns. Mostly what I'm doing Is just replacing the models, for example, old_garagesf and other sorts. Mostly vehicles, to be exact. Once I've done the vehicles, I'll move on to textures like grass, roads, etc. Then after those I'll move on to buildings, and any other model I can replace. For notes, does anyone have a link, wordpad, notepad, etc of the whole and exact car list for San Andreas? If so, can you email It to me? Email: [email protected] Thanks guys, David Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/272789-is-there-such-a-thing-as-too-many-mods/#findComment-4153765 Share on other sites
mrmunky
I think before you've replaced every car you'll probably hit another limit; one imposed by your PC specs, unless you choose pretty low poly cars. 512MB of RAM and Intel Integrated graphics are going to mean your game starts to run REALLY slowly if you get a couple of high poly cars on screen at once. I'm not being elitist here (my system isn't even PCI-E, so I'm going to need a new mobo next time I want a new graphics card and I can think of better things to spend my cash on than droping £800+ on a decent SLI setup). Could be the same problem for vinnygouveia. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/272789-is-there-such-a-thing-as-too-many-mods/#findComment-4154477 Share on other sites
