Voodoo
Just wondering for those that have finished the awesome 'ME', how many planets you actually 'visit' to complete the main storyline (planets whereby you have to go there for the story/main line), e.g. I'm half-way through Noveria and have already completed Feros. There are eight "stages" in the main story which take place on six planets and the citadel. The secondary UNC assignments you pick up by talking to people on the citadel, on the first few planets in the story and by exploring the galaxy add several more locations and are worth doing before you head to Vermire. These will get you more experience and money and will allow you to further develop your character as a paragon or renegade before heading into the final stages. Also, I just hit the hard limit for money at 9,999,999.

I'm not really sure what I'm building towards a lot of the time that I'm doing these side missions, but I do them anyways because I'm a completion whore. Voodoo
I'm a completion whore. That alone is reason to do all of the secondary assignments. I'm the same way, and yes most of the extra stuff is worth it although the surveying seems a bit pointless and the familiar concept of zombie type creatures makes more than one appearance. The sides get you more exp, money and paragon/renegade development and help flesh out your character, skills and arsenal. I like finishing things, but once I've done some of the more mundane and repetitive tasks in a game I don't want to do them again. When I finished the story the first time and realized I couldn't go back and do the rest of the sides, I had to load an old save so I could get it all done at once and feel like I saw everything without having to start over and repeat stuff. You might want to consider this. Edited November 26, 2007 by VoodooSlumlord

Voodoo
So you're saying I should finish the side missions before I do anything else on the story? Is that your suggestion? Unless you plan on doing them all on a replay with the same or a new character and you don't mind repetition, yes. I guess my point is that if you want to do them all, and you don't get them all done before the endgame, you'll end up repeating what you've done to that point on the next playthrough. Forty
I think I may have missed a couple of side mission at the Citadel. I need to get a walkthrough up so that I can find all these side missions. There are so f*cking many of them!
Voodoo
Oh yeah, definitely do the Rouge VI assignment on Luna. AFAIK, it's the only one that gives you the class specialization option for your character.

If it's not in your journal yet, make sure you see everyone in the citadel before you head to Vermire. That assignment gave me the choice of either the shock trooper or commando specialization for my soldier class character. There are options for each class, but you have to unlock them on Luna (the earth's moon in Sol).

I heard from a friend about a mission to go kill mob bosses, and also I found The Fan, Conrad Verner (I think it was?), but I never knew where to meet him to complete it. I want to go back and finish all that up. I gotta find a good walkthrough with all the missions.
Voodoo
Oops, I told you wrong. On my second playthrough I realized that you don't get the Rouge VI assignment at the citadel. You get it from Admiral Hackett while exploring the galaxy. He contacts you over the comm when you're traveling between systems and asks you to deal with a VI gone bad on the moon's marine training grounds. Just keep exploring if you don't have it yet. GTA3Freak-2001
Has anyone actually sat down and gone through the codex telling you everything about the galaxy, its races, technology etc.? Its very interesting reading about how the first off-world colony from Earth was on the Moon on the 24th of July 2069 the 100 year anniversary of the first landing on the moon. This kind of background info is what helps make you feel like you are really apart of a this great space opera saga.

I got a kick out of it because it reminded me of how cool the voice over is in Crackdown. While listening to him in Mass Effect, I really expected him to say something like "Be sure to keep this in mind, Agent."

The elevator announcements and the Rachni remind me of that film as well.

EasyAs
Captain Anderson sounds a lot like Julian, the leader of the 3rd Street Saints in Saints Row. He looks identicle as well. I'm half expecting him to say "You HAVE to get to the Conduit before Saren, ya digging me playa?" or "Mah nigga!"

Voodoo
Male Shep's voice initially reminded me of Bruce Campbell. The Shep I designed ended up looking a little like him, too. The more I played, the more I was hoping for this to be true considering Seth Green was voicing Joker. When he uses "Ash" as a nickname for Ashley it seemed like a tie in. I was a bit disappointed when I looked up the cast and found out I was wrong. I really wanted to hear him say, "Gimme some sugar, baby!" to Liara. Voodoo
You won't regret it. I'm on my second playthrough right now at level 56 with the same character. I thought I did most everything on the first time through but I'm still finding some stuff I missed. There are an astounding number of dialog options, too. I've got close to 70 hours on this character and still have about 40% to go on the second pass. This game is highly addicting. No co-op though, Imi. Iminicus
You say that like it is a bad thing. You know the Imi Halo 3 slow hack is the awesome. I get requests all the time about it. Yeah, I love the work the Bioware does. I wish they do another KoTOR and more ME.
