Ring_of_Fire
Say you have a legit copy of the game and you use a No-CD crack for the 1.1 patch, does it only edit the 'gta-vc.exe' file or other additional files in its data folders? Edit: What I meant is that people who torrent the game has to go through CD protection checks like SafeDisc if they start the game. I have seen that it affects the Patch 1.1 user-friendly installation as well and so you cannot use it. So what's the difference between applying the 1.1 patch from No-CD cracks, than when you actually go through the installation process? Justin
Just the EXE. As for your question... Assuming I understood correctly, my response follows. Let me know if I've misinterpreted. Sorry for the wonkiness - it's hard to cut to the chase here. Patching with the official 1.1 patch just updates the EXE from v1.0 to 1.1. Obtaining a 1.1 EXE from elsewhere and pasting that over the present 1.0 EXE achieves the same result; however obviously Rockstar don't want to freely distribute the executable of their game so they provide the patch which will only work if the user has the original legitimate EXE. Using a 1.1 crack is the equivalent of patching (except obviously it overrides the CD-check). Thus, patching the original EXE, then using a 1.0 crack is inefficient as you could just cut out the middle step and crack straight away. i.e. There's no difference between using a 1.1 crack and patching the original EXE with the 1.1 patch.
