I took the previous map and added more streets, freeways, and bridges according to the actual geography of NYC. I spent more time on manhattan than anywhere else.

You're missing Broadway, which is the obvious street that can be seen in a New York City map. And since we saw times square in the first trailer it's going to be there.

#1 in this screenshot is definitely one of the cranes seen in this shot - the only problem is I'm not sure which one it is. I think it's probably the one furthest north...

Are sunsets really that orange in New York City? It looks a little intense and I'm hoping against something like San Andreas's sunsets. I just hope the sunsets are more calm like in III.

I think you can expect very realistic sunsets , i hope they will put a couple of different sunsets in the game for some variation.

For me, the sunset in the picture looks very decent.

This aint ment to sound rude lol, but does anyone think the map will be this big? With all the different heights and interiors I'd be suprised if it was like that.

I just got a vision of the map being sligthly 3D and not pure 2D as previous games.

 

A more "living" map with animated symbols etc.

Although its exciting that you guys found that hove beach/carney island is down the beach from the broker bridge......its still hard for New Yorkers like me (if you know what i mean)

 

In real life getting to coney island from the brooklyn bridge takes 30 minutes

 

Rockstar has REALLY scaled down New York to a san andreas size

It's going to feel weird that going down the street from the broker bridge will take 2 minutes to reach the southern tip but i guess its going to take years and years until somebody can make a perfect, street to street recreation of the whole NEW YORK CITY area...

I guess everybody agrees that Hove Beach is probably the representation of Brighton Beach.

(For those who might not know, Brighton Beach is the home of the Russian "Mafia" in America)

yeah theres a town called Hove over here, near scotland in fact. (rockstar north, makes sense)

Screampoint has a really good start.

 

R* said they scaled it down to match the game and keep it fun. New York is f*cking huge. It's not bad playing Spiderman when you're swinging 200 mph, but even then it gets pretty old pretty fast.
