Not sure if this has been spotted yet, it might be useful for anyone intending to draw a map:

(Circled area = Broker Bridge)

That means that Hove Beach/Carney Island is in this area...

The Parachute ride in Brighton Beach Coney Island park looks very similar to this structure in Hove Beach.

And the Wonderwheel has been very accurately recreated for this short cut scene in the trailer.

Here are a few random pictures I've taken in Brighton Beach and Coney Island.

That's the Q train that goes all the way to 52nd street in manhattan down to Stillwell avenue (where The Warriors first get on the subway in the film and video game).

This is the Dante's Inferno ride. The name has been changed many times throughout its history and it has undergone many reconstruction. At one point, a version of this ride burned down. Back when I was a kid, there was another version of this ride called the Hell Hole, but they've since toned the language down to something like the Nightmare Ride.

This was a real mural that was hand painted about a year before Rockstar released The Warriors for the PS2.

This is a shot of the cyclone, renamed The Screamer in IV. It's a national landmark and one of the oldest roller coasters in the world. There is a minor league baseball team named after the roller coasters called The Cyclones.

This is one of the bars on the board walk. Behind it is the museum and freakshow theater. I've been there to see the show a few times. There's a guy who hammers nails into his nose, a girl who swallows swords, a guy who swallows one of those long sculpture balloons (but that's just a trick), and another guy lays on a bed of nails. Pretty boring and mundane stuff compared to Jackass and Team Sanchez.

This is another museum in Coney Island that was in the video game The Warriors, but in reality, this is where you used to be able to see freaks, pickled punks (dead human featuses in a jar), two headed pigs, a two headed baby, etc. There are some rumors that everyone who used to work there were satanists. There's a lot of art that would also suggest they are all satanists. This building is now totally delapidated. I managed to climb up into the window and looked inside. It was totally falling apart. Chunks of plaster and beer cans all over the floor. It's also supposed to be a landmark as this building has been there a very long time.

Not sure if it's been spotted before either, but that's a great find.

Agh, this topic keeps disappearing... So just thought I'd mention this since people are starting to piece together parts of Lower Algonquin (like the bank area), that the shot with the blackhawk helicopter gives a little more perspective of the areas layout.

Blackhawk Shot

The two buildings identical to each other in the background are the World Financial Center, which is a waterfront building complex on the Hudson River, making the direction of this photo south. On a side note, these buildings are the real life next door neighbor of the former World Trade Center, but in it's place here is some delapidated apartment building, so this pretty much %100 confirms there is physical reference of 9/11 in Liberty City.

Also, the building even further in the background with the tall grey pillars is modelled after another building in Lower Manhattan with a curved facade, and is the same building that is seen on the right side of the shot featuring the Statue of Happiness, making the park on the left of that shot some representation of Battery Park.

If somebodies already mentioned all this sorry, but I just put those two together and the layout of the area really just came together in my head.

Are you sure it's Algonquin?

I was thinking it's Broker: dontgetit.gif

So not to seem persistant, but if your photo comparison were correct, then this means there are two very large skyscrapers along the water in Broker which we haven't seen in any other shots, and we've seen many shots thus far of the Broker waterfront with no towers at all.

Furthermore, these two buildings are pretty much replicas of the World Financial Center

This screen isnt great but if you watch the video, when Niko clears the frame you see the same buildings on the far right of the screen

Algonquin from Alderney

I mean, i'm not saying i'm %100 possitive this area is of Lower Manhattan, because obviously things get changed around, but geographically speaking it would make no sense any other way. The piece of land across the water which you identified as a pier of the South Street Seaport is very likely the base of Liberty Island.

it's a decent map, but the streets are all diagonal in algonquin and there should be more straight ones running right across and up & down the island

looks like you copy/pasted from other game maps... maybe san andreas?

overall, nice work... best one i've seen so far, despite the streets

I think I have spotted where his area is located smile.

As you can see I have marked the chimney and the two almost identical highrises with A and B

Now look here. I have marked what I think is the chimney and two highrises in the far distance:

#1 in this screenshot is definitely one of the cranes seen in this shot - the only problem is I'm not sure which one it is. I think it's probably the one furthest north...

Continuing on from this...

the map is ok, the islands are probably in the shape they will be however i no that the actual detail in the map is wrong, i can see that the position of the roads and buildings do not match up with the research that is taking place here. Good shape of islands though..

Hmmm I don't get why people would want to know the entire lay out of the map before they even get the game....For me at least it would take away from all of the fun of exploring...
