Mapping Liberty City (Laying Out Liberty City)

Recommended Posts

just out of interest have any of you guys tried e-mailing rockstar and seeing if they could send you a map now this close to release?

I don't see them doing that unfortunately.

They are keeping everything as tight as they can.

As for this thread, great job guys! I wish I was smarter like that but I have

the coordination of a drunk fish on land.

yeah but im sure theres no harm in trying is there?

i would do it for you guys but for some reason evertime i send an e-mail to them it gets rejected so i gave up in the end, i think it may have something to do with me sending them stupid job applications to be a tea boy.

Here is something I have been working on: http://media.gtanet.com/gta4/files/broker.html (click on the red icons)

It is based on the map made by AleX AciD. The scale isn't entirely accurate, and the shape of the land should be different also, which means the distance between some objects is slightly bigger than it should be. I might have a go at fixing that later.

Great Work adam..

Although the position of this screen should be more to the south, almost on the next intersection. The binco on the left borders the intersection.

Hey man, great job with these! I have an alternate theory about that lighthouse however. Going strictly from things I see in the real New York, the lighthouse in the first shot is not a part of Broker (Brooklyn) but rather modelled after the lighthouse at the northern edge of Roosevelt Island (a small island in the east river situated in between Manhattan and Queens). The real life lighthouse is approximately adjacent to the UN Headquarters (Building XYZ) as well.

http://www.lighthousedepot.com/database/photos/778.jpg

I also like my theory because it shows that R* has taken the effort to portray even the more obscure islands and areas throughout the city. It would also prove that R* has combined properties of the Williamsburg and Queensborough bridge to create a single bridge in Liberty City - Bridge 2's towers are modelled after the Williamsburg Bridge, however it's geographical location relative to Algonquin, the Suspended Air Tram, and it's proximity to Roosevelt Island are elements taken from the Queensborough Bridge.

So yeah... I don't think that Lighthouse is part of Broker.

Looking at your photo and the shot I must say that is definitely the lighthouse. Nice one

Right, I've updated my map:

http://media.gtanet.com/gta4/files/broker.html

The scale on the old map was horribly wrong, now it is much more accurate. I've also managed to determine the shape of the land. This map still isn't *entirely* accurate, but it's a lot more accurate than the old one. And don't forget, this is only a small area of Broker. smile.gif

superb adamcs icon14.gif the mape looks great however the bridge is coming in at too much of an angle....i agree it comes in at an angle but thats too much towards the grass area whereas in the pictures from the grass area the bridge is away to the right but overall great work dude icon14.gif

Hmm, you're right. I think part of the problem (also) is that the screenshot is taken at an angle. I'll fix that now.
