Lazlow speaks about GTA4

Not a bad audio recording. Not too informative - mostly b.s.-ing. The only thing that I would take away though is that Lazlow mentioned that there would be more info coming out in SUMMER! Yay! So, hopefully that means next trailer will be June or July. Can't wait! Till then I guess we'll just have to endlessly debate the nationality of our protagonist and how large the city is/what other cities are there/San Andreas or Vice City included???

Man, I had no problems with that specific helicopter mission in Vice City...I did have problems with Zero's mission where you have to bombard his rival's delivery service. Mostly because I ALWAYS ran out of gas before I was even close to finished. I finally lucked out. I only did it like twice since then, because I hate it so much.

I am SO GLAD that mission was not required to beat the game. I will confess I never could beat it.

'I'll use walkthroughs if I've been on the same mission for like... days... you know, when I've been looking around every corner, poked around everything, under every crate etc. Then I finally read the walkthrough and it's like "Oh ok, I make a left."'

ROFL!

they have more listeners than howard stern by far, and are bigger than ever.

LOL. That's a load of horsesh!t. lol.gif

Sirius has about 4 million subscribers. XM has 6. Only a small percentage of those subscribers actually listen to Stern or O&A on a regular basis. And since Opie and Anthony are generally the top morning show in most of their markets, that adds at least a solid five million listeners to their score.

Like it or not, they have the higher profile and the larger audience right now.

Sirius has 6 million subscribers. The majority of them signed up immediately after Stern premiered. Do the math.

Also, if the merger proceeds, it's Sirius that will be buying XM: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...fmGQ&refer=home

XM still has more subscribers at this point, and no matter how much you want to believe it there's absolutely no evidence that more than 25% of subscribers to either service actually listen to Stern or O&A. Unless you want to believe fanboy hyperbole.

Sirius' subscriber numbers have grown at a pretty steady rate since well before Howard came aboard, and in fact most did NOT sign up immediately after the Stern show started. That's pure bullsh*t. They had about 3.5 million subscribers when he joined, and at most there were a few hundred thousand loyal fans who signed up at that point. The rest of their subscribers have come aboard gradually since then. That's a fact. But heck, let's be really generous and say that 50% of Sirius subscribers actually do listen to Stern regularly. That's still only three million people.

This isn't about some lame DJ war. The fact is that terrestrial radio, no matter how much it sucks, will always draw exponentially more listeners than satellite simply because it's free. At least until Sirius and XM figure out a way to make satellite appeal more to the general public. And let's face it, the planned merger shows a whole lot of desperation on the part of both companies.

Satellite radio is great but it's still not doing very well as a business right now. In the past couple of years the numbers have grown as much as can be expected but they're barely making any money.

And the truth is that as long as Opie and Anthony remain syndicated across the country, they'll have more listeners than Stern for the foreseeable future.

Don Imus of all people does better in the ratings than O&A; with O&A having only just over 1 million listeners on terrestrial radio.

XM has slightly over 1 million subscribers than Sirius-- falling below XM's predictions for 2006. Meanwhile, Sirius has gone up about 80% in subscribers since and shortly just before Stern's debut.

I agree that satellite radio still has a long way to go against regular radio. But truth is, "free FM" is dead. Nothing but complete horsesh!t on there. So O&A can keep their waterdown show on terrestrial radio and hang on to their paltry 1 million free FM listeners and their Stern-rip-off faux-wackpakers for all I care.

Since you can't get numbers on Stern or O&A on satellite, what gives you the idea Stern has less listeners?

Actually, Don Imus gets nothing. Except fired for being a socially irrelevant racist. And I think we both find that hilarious.

I know you can't get official stats on the number of satellite listeners for either show. That's basically my point. I'm not sure how you came up with the figure for O&A's terrestrial audience, but that's at least one million more confirmed listeners than Howard has right now.

As you say, XM has over a million more subscribers than Sirius. And since common sense dictates that only a certain minority of satellite customers actually listen to either show, I'm betting the program which is also syndicated and popular in many major terrestrial markets has more listeners by default. There's no getting around the fact that Stern now has an audience only a fraction of the size of his old one, while O&A now have as many listeners as ever.

And while Free FM is certainly crap, most of regular radio has been crap due to the climate of the business for the past fifteen years.

Stern couldn't handle it, and Opie and Anthony made careers for themselves during the height of it. Even if they get suspended for a year or two every now and then.
