jetski races won't start, can't do all Turismos

I wanted to do the jetski races off western Prawn Island (the east island being long since unlocked) but when I hop in the jetski they don't trigger. Was this left out of the PS2 version, perhaps?

 

I also can't do very many of the east island Turismo races. I think it stops at race #9. The Brady guide lists more, but they don't appear even though I have placed first in all preceding races. Were these left out, or are they unlocked later somehow (maybe the jetski races also)?

you have to do some more missions. I think its the the Reni missions, but I am not shore

I hoped that was it. I'll check back after I actually do some more of the east island storyline.

AFAIK, there are only 9 "Turismo" races in VCS PS2. Five (1-5) on the west island at Sunshine Autos and four (6-9) on the east island in the amusement park.

Only 9? A downtick from the PSP version! Faaaaaaaaaaaa, Rockstar.

PSP also just had 9 Turismo races I believe.

 

Just like dem57 said, maybe jetski race is available after "Say Cheese" mission for Reni.
