Ambulace missions...

I'm surprised how easy the Ambulance Missions were (in Little Havana), in comparison to the other GTA's icon13.gif . Although, i see they still haven't improved the handling. The suspension is still too darn soft icon13.gif and again, the siren is really useless, considering the cars weer out of the way only to turn onto your path right after icon13.gif especially the taxi's, always in the furkin way and surely again are also the cops, which appear out of nowhere and smack into you, causing a Wanted Level angry.gif . I sure hope rahkstar2.gif will adjust those annoyances accordingly in the next GTA angry.gif I wanna see all the cars and cops get the frokk out of the way, if the siren is on angry.gif <-- Very demanding-- biggrin.gif

The best thing I ever read on ambulance missions was a FAQ from the original VC. It promoted a completely workmanlike, zen sort of approach where one never put the hammer down, never used the reverse brake (handbrake only), planned carefully and just executed the maneuvers. Kind of like a kata in martial arts. I came to adopt that for some other L3 missions as well. The VCS ones are significantly easier than in the past. GTA3 ambulance was horrible because you had no zoomable map.

What I remember as very difficult was L12 Vig in SA on a police bike. I was not content to wait for the Hunter or Rhino. Ah, the memories of those badass chases around Palomino Creek and Montgomery, doing 'The Run' to reload on armour and wipe off the wanted level before going back for more blood.

I did the ambulance missions very easily in Little Havana. Definitely a lot easier than they used to be. It seems they give a lot more time then they used to. I actually find the ambulance handles quite well (maybe I just et used to it quick)... and I use mainly the reverse brake. It's the f*cking vigilante missions I'm having trouble with... I get to like level 13, and the f*cking guys rip through my car or bike like nothing... and they all split up, not to mention I usually get a wanted level, so between the cops shooting me, the guys mowing my car down, etc, it's f*cking annoying...

I concur that ambulance is easier now. Tons of time. But I'm so conditioned now not to use the reverse brake that I have to stop and think if the situation requires me to back the 'lance up.

My own view on Vig:

The police bike is the only way to go. The only use for a squad car is as a means to get you back to police station street without ending the mission, where you can grab a bike remount.

The challenge is to stay far enough back that you don't take too much hurt from riders, yet near enough to do harm to them. Definitely want an armload of SMG, the best kind you can find; I don't think you can get the MP5 early but you can sure get an Uzi (thank you, biker gang) and perhaps a Mac-10 (not sure which is better, both are better than that Skorpion or Beretta or whatever spawns at the hideout). Everyone already knows to load up on the free ammo then pick up one new subgun, as the ammo transfers.

The other lesson I learned doing cop bike Vig in SA was this: shoot until it blows up, period. Once you get it in your sights, hold the trigger down and keep the muzzle on that ride right into the explosion. Never let off the trigger once it simply stops or catches fire; hose it down all the way. The quicker it blows the more runners will die in the blast, saving you time. Any time the riders bail safely and get far enough away to survive the blast, it was a flawed 'arrest'.

Best place to do It would be Little Havana, and do it before you unlock the second island (same for all the other side missions) or else you will have to pick up patients by Washington.

Even though my ambulance was wrecked and I unlocked the 2nd island I managed to beat all 15 Paramedic missions in one try. I even had 10 minuets to pickup the last guy. Right after picking up the last patient I ran over a cop while I was backing up, my ambulance was almost done for so I raced to the hospital avoiding police cars and gun fire. Just after passing the mission a police car came barreling down on me setting the ambulance on fire. Of coarse I got out and saved.

Just like JKK said, use the motorcycle, cause you can also shoot as you're riding forward. I had the same hard time from level 13 onward. The darn cops too appearing out of nowhere to bust me, the moment i had a wanted level icon13.gif Out of frustration, i ended up re-doing level 11 to 14, 4 times icon13.gif

Pay attention to where they are, on cars, bikes or on foot. If they are on bikes, carefully approach them from behind, if they're lined up with you, fire away. If they are on foot, stop where you have a visual of the red arrows, pointing down on them and if you're close enough, use the Molotovs/Granades, if you have them or the AK/M249. ( be carefull when throwing Molotovs/Granades, if you're positioned between two buildings, Vic the dork, will throw them at the building and might blow you up).If they're on cars, it's the hardest, but the best way to get them is by intercepting them from ahead, so they're driving towards you.(this method is also effective even if they're on bikes). Pick a spot to stop and as soon as they're in range, get off the bike and use the AK or the M249(if you have those) the SMG will take a few extra rounds, but keep in mind, once you fire at them, they will speed up, so, unless you can blow them up fast, they will quickly get away. Important: When you get off the bike, keep an eye on the time you have left to get back on it, or you will fail the mission(happened to me twice) icon13.gif

I hope this helps you, good luck! die.gifmercie_blink.gif

Hah yeah thanks guys. Gonna attempt it again soon. I was mainly using the bike, but once my tired were shot out (which happened damn fast sometimes), it just became a drag, where I was trying to (slowly) chase them, while trying to locate another bike, etc, and by that time they were split into like 3 groups, my timr was dwindling, and bah... you get the point. I'll try to hold back a bit next time and just fill their car full o' lead. And yeah, I really stock up on the SMG/AK rounds, though I think I'll upgrade to M4 and get a bit of M249 hah...
