"Things will be different"

Just a theory... What if GTA IV will be set in Eastern Europe, just after the fall of communism? Certainly a time of change for everyone 'Things will be different' especially for would be mob bosses. The industrial hammering sound (during the countdown clock) could be a reference to stereotypical East European industry. The old hammer & sickle imagery. Again, just a theory.

i like diffrent. I hope it's not futuristic tho, that would be weird. Online play would be sweet tho. Having the same singleplayer as the old games with obvious improvements and have Online play a rpg style maybe? earn mony doing missions, killing peds, jobs? Then be able to buy cars(or steal obviously), buy houses, clothes etc. No monthly payments tho i hope. There should be enough sales to cover the server costs! biggrin.gif xbox360 of course will have there regular fees... confused.gif

1 more thing... Celebrity appearances? not serious one's tho. More like Southpark style. I wouldn't mind Pimping out the Olsen Twins and paying them off with Crack. lol.gifw00t!

It's really strange the logo has so many errors in it. And, surprising you have been one of the only people to vocalize about it, that I know. I just wonder if they have a reason for all these errors, or if they just plain didn't care and rushed it. It's a little disconcerting, considering the metaphor it gives off towards their care about the game. That they rushed making it and didn't care. But, this thought fades, it only makes me worry for a second.

Wow.

Four hours and more than 3 pages. Record.

Far from it. I've seen hundreds of threads grow faster than this.

The original GTA Trivia got 40 pages in 24 hours. And I'm sure that there are threads that grow alot faster than that.

One thread that is sure to beat any record is the one called "GTAIV trailer released! Comments here!", or something like that, lol.

I am going to bet money on that haha. biggrin.gif

And weeks later there still will be people posting that the trailer is released. tounge.gif

Hey Guys, calm down a bit!

I don't think that Rockstar refers to the game when they say that things will be different.

I think that they want to say that the world of video games will be different after Grand Theft Auto IV, just like it was after Grand Theft Auto III.

Remember, on the first official announcement of GTA IV, the announcer said that "GTA IV will undoubtedly be one of the most epic games ever" and that it would change gaming forever "like GTA III, which changed gaming forever when it released in 2001".

So let's just hope that GTA IV will be as groundbraking as GTA III and beyond all our expectations.

Greetings from Vice City,

Avalange

I think we have a winnner.

I don't think GTA IV should be a MMO game - in any respect. It should have Online Features; but I know I would refuse to buy a game which I have to keep paying for.

An MMO doesn't have to cost a monthly fee you know, with games like Test Drive Unlimited merging the MMO format and all for free.

Not a bad theory, though! One of the more qualified guesses i've been seeing. I would personally appreciate this setting. It could turn out to be a game full of atmosphere and great stories, while still able to maintain many of the qualities of the GTA brand. Think of a game like 'Freedom Fighters'. I know it took place in NYC, but it had sort of a 'heavy', grey, Eastern Europe, communist 'feel' (don't get me wrong!). A doubtable but great theory.

You Want Communsm, You Want it Different, You want a 'Viva la Revolution'

Cuba 1962, Cuban Missile Crisis, now that's different, Communist and Viva la Revolution... plus it's an island, keeps up with the 'always on an island theme'

As long as the Icons (Health, Armour, Money etc.) stay the same it will always feel like GTA to me, they give the game that certain look that has never been replicated.

If we are looking at a complete Overhaul here I would be very, very suprised. Surely R* know that they should never brake a winning formula?

unfortunatly too many people loved the custom rice rockets and more modern feel of SA so I doubt any time before 1990 will ever be seen again in a gta game its more likely that we will get a futuristic gta than something in the past.

Or a near future "1984" type setting that leans to the totalitarian side of things which sometimes is right next door to communism and fascism. GTA2 was a near future city that could almost be described as totalitarian.

Not at all. I don't like communism in any way, but this is not a political question. Dragonshard's draft was a setting in Eastern Europe right after the fall of the wall (and communism). Thus, it wouldn't be a game about politics, but about the criminal happenings in the aftermath of a collapsed society.

I didn't catch that other stuff, but shouldn't the tops be no darker than the left sides if the light source is from the top left and not just directly from the left? Or am I missing something?

ive been reading a lot of hopes that claude will return, but i honestly hope he doesnt.

if claude was the main character again theyd basically have to have him talk, and i just think that that would ruin his whole persona. I never want to hear a word come out of his mouth lol, i mean a small part like in SA would work, or maybe if you work for him then he can just give you letters or something i dunno. All i know is that i dont want to see claude talking in my lifetime.

Agreed. I don't like the idea of Claude talking. I also don't think he should be a boss, because he isn't the type. It is a worker. He does what he is told and that is that. But he wouldn't have a problem in crossing the boss if he needed too.

Just expect something different than what you are expecting.  sigh.gif

I should hate Rockstar for that kind of marketing.

Can't get the game out of my head, I even started to dream about it.

i hope it was a good dream.

i had a nightmare where jack thompson blew rockstar up.

edit: i misworded the sentence. it was a nightmare and it was a long day today.

agreed. i turned into the hulk and killed him after he did that. no one blows up rockstar and lives.

He should be a secret in GTA IV find him and destroy and call him thomas jackson as to not get sued

or maybe a character named what you said, and he is a bum dressed in a tattered suit in some kind of alley or tunnel (like the bums in gta3) and you can give him money/alcohol/drugs and he will do funny stuff, get in fights with other bums, punch himself, run into walls etc. much like bumfights. But during the minigame you should have the ability to move around and stuff.

they could call it the "Jack on Crack" mini game or something lol
