"Things will be different"

Recommended Posts

Maybe its the same scheme movie trailers are like. Most trailers have "Its gonna change... *so and so*"

Here, it could be "Things will change". Prehaps a new ERA of gaming or free roaming. Things from the GTA III series will be a thing of the past. I think we shouldn't take the title to drastically.

Well it's a quote. Probably from the trailer, chosen because it suits this situation and the game itself perfectly. It's just another R* marketing strategy. They are trying to wind us all up, make us incredibly excited for the trailer. They are trying to make this BIG.

Those marketing guys should get a raise.

''Things will be different''

CONFIRMED,GTA IV WILL BE SET IN SITE B tounge.gif

I don't know why but after seeing this I really feel like this phrase plus the ''industrial'' sounds of the countdown of the gta tv commercial are ''saying''(Don't know what word I should use here blush.gif ) that GTA IV will be set in the future or something.

I thought of future before all of this...

i pray im right because it will make the game limitless in the types of guns/weapons, cars, bikes, missions and free roam areas

but the reason i thought of the future was because: on GTA (the first one), the first city was Liberty City - that made GTA 3

On GTA the second town was: Vice city

Third town was: San Andreas

so if they keep going with that when GTA IV will either be london (expansion pack - doubtful) or GTA 2 which was FUTURE

Hey Guys, calm down a bit!

I don't think that Rockstar refers to the game when they say that things will be different.

I think that they want to say that the world of video games will be different after Grand Theft Auto IV, just like it was after Grand Theft Auto III.

Remember, on the first official announcement of GTA IV, the announcer said that "GTA IV will undoubtedly be one of the most epic games ever" and that it would change gaming forever "like GTA III, which changed gaming forever when it released in 2001".

So let's just hope that GTA IV will be as groundbraking as GTA III and beyond all our expectations.

Greetings from Vice City,

Avalange

In a few days we'll know exactly whats up with GTAIV. It would be fine if it was all we hoped for. Like many enterable buildings. And most of all: interactivity, economic system, graphics, AI, physics, world class story, actors, soundtrack. It will be epic. Like all 3D GTAs.

I'm slightly concerned with this too. I mean we didn't see a statement like this for Vice City or SA so I presume its going to be largely different. I think its going to be one of the following:

1. Graphics drastically improved

2. In the future

3. Different gameplay

They wouldn't make a statement like that if it was just different characters or a different country....

Then again it could be a sort of tag line for the storyline, who knows... confused.gif

itd going to be big right? why not some parts of the world come together? like last year I read something about grand theft auto world, cud be a possobilitie.

Define big. I think GTA: World is higly unprobable, games aren't there just yet.

Also, traveling between countries would take a while. I don't want it to become a True Crime clone, maybe they mean that it's going to redefine next-gen games the way GTA III redefined last-gen gaming. At least I hope this is what they're talking about, they could be making a huge mistake but like other have said, I have faith in R* smile.gif.

Its going to be different in a way that its going to be something that the PS2 couldn't handle.

PS1 brought the 2D GTAs

PS2 brought the GTA into 3D

PS3 will inovate once again.

The basic idea behing GTA is to do whatever you want, now they just expand that idea.

I most like in GTA the style of it. When you're driving down a street and doing a drive-by with some wicked tunes on the stereo. You know the feeling. And you don't want that feeling to disapear in GTA IV. It wont. It will be better. It will be like an action movie in which YOU make the story. Welcome to the new era of interactive entertainment. They want to take over movies in artistic and entertainment value. They want to be the Pulp Fiction of the gaming industry.

They are trying to include new features such as real life mobile phones.

i.e. you'll get texts on your phone from characters in the game.

That's what the "Things will be different" vibe is all about.

What is so special about having mobile phones? mercie_blink.gif That isn't such a major breakthrough at all!

I'm just reporting what I know bud.

I don't know of any other game where characters text you on your real life mobile.

It sounds a bit dumb to me as well. We'll see how it works out.

"Things will be different"?

Of course it will be different, it's a next gen game. Anything less than "different" would probably not be enough in this case. But I dubt we need to read too much into this quote. Different can mean anything, things have been different with every Gta game, so its only natural for it to be so now with the next gen consols. If you weren't worried before this, I really can't see any reason to be worried now.

That would be a novel gimmick. You could also receive voice calls on your real phone too, since in previous GTAs the calls the player character received were mostly one-way conversations.

However, it would be gimmicky. The concept might make a little sense for a very immersive first-person game, but not really for third-person. It adds nothing to gameplay over watching the character answer his own phone, and who wants to put down the controller to answer phone calls? I'm pretty sure when I have my first weekend with GTA4 my phone is going to be off.
