Anyone listen to Talib Kweli? I first heard him in Blackstar, an album with him and Mos Def. Since then Blackstar has been one of my all time favorite rap albums, it is truly phenomonal and I recommend it strongly. Kweli's solo stuff is where you really see him shine, Quality is a badass album though I'm not sure of much of his other work. Reflection Eternal is badass too though.

Black Star is a great album, both Talib and Mos Def are awesome people. You've heard Reflection Eternal, that's his best album in my eye opinion, with The Beautiful Struggle in second.

Have you got any of Mos Def's solo stuff? Black On Both Sides is one of my favorite albums.

Got hold of El-P's Fantastic Damage the other day... what an album. I love it. Deep Space 9mm is an awesome track.

Yeh Talib is a sleeper. People think Kanye is hot but they usually have never heard Talib.

@Platinum: Was that Don Cheadle in the restaurant??

Common is the man. Single handedly went up against NWA, and people now think he's soft. Dude is a legend.

Jedi Mind Tricks anyone???

Kanye is ok. A bit a pop diva IMO.

Talib and Common are the sh*t.

Yeh I know, Kanye wines too much. He also said himself that the only reason he makes music is to win awards. He said "Of course I'm trying to win. If your making CD's and your not trying to win, then what are you doing?" That right there showed me he's only about the money and needs a reality check.

Also, his beats and the things he raps about sometimes seem a little popy.

Royce da 5'9" anyone? He's great when talentless rappers aren't remixing his songs.

Talib used to be the sh*t back in the day. I've heard a couple of singles off of Beautiful Struggle. The production is great, but he has lost some of his fire from the couple of songs I heard, especially Never Been in Love, that song is a blatant Kanye ripoff. Common, though, is one of my favorite rappers. I haven't heard his most recent album, but Be was really good, but not as good as his truly classic stuff 10-15 years ago. Letting Kanye, who is a mediocre, conceited rapper, rap was really forgettable, and a couple of the songs were just plain hip pop crap. Still, there were only a couple of filler tracks, and the rest were classics. At least Kanye can produce a good track. Anyone else heard Be? And how was Finding Forever, should I get it?

Be is an awesome album. Finding Forever though isn't as good imo. I'd say pass as a hip hop fan, but if you're a Common fan specificially I don't see any wrong in getting it.

Talib's latest album on the other hand, Eardrum, is tons better than Beautiful Struggle. But the Justin Timberlake song is a complete failure.

I really enjoyed Be. A lot. I like Common.

I heard Beautiful Struggle wasn't that good, like he was trying to be a hard ass and sh*t and just wasn't hungry anymore. I also heard he did an album with Madlib (who does production for Madvillain which is f*cking badass, get the album Madvillainy) called Liberation that was sweet but it was only an online free thing and was taken off like after a week. Sucks.

Common doesnt have to be a hard ass. He took on NWA and gave it to em. You gotta hear "The Bitch in you" Its pretty hard.

inlove.gifLove this song, forgot about it and just found it while browsing youtube.

AHHH the 90's, possibly the "Renaissance" of the rap era. It's going to be a long time before rap gets back to the level it was in the 90s.

Oh God, please dont even say dude name. He the lamest person in the world and he shuld be banned from rap. Hurrican Kriss aint no better either. There should be like a bar exam for people entering rap. That way we could filter out the trash. Soulja boi isnt even a damn rapper.

lol, or FAIL. We need some straight up hardcore gangster rap hitting the tv screens. Thing is, big record companies say there's no market for that, how would they know, they haven't released any hardcore rap in ages.

What the hell do you mean "He took on NWA and gave it to em"? NWA paved the way for artists like common who didn't make his sh*tty debut until 1992, when NWA had already went their seperate ways in 1991. Get your facts straight

Yeah I'm fairly sure it was a Westside Connection track he was responding to, more specifically Ice Cube.
