I was lucky to remember when Emimen burst on to the scene in the late 90's. It was crazy. Unlike anything I've seen/heard before. After his first two albums though, I grew out of him or he got more angry and and I just went off him. But The Ringer is an undeniable track. Especially since I don't like mumble rappers too. We know now have an anti-mumble-rap anthem  

 

 

 

And immediately spotted the the Licensed to Ill (1986) reference.

So I just wrote a rap in the “Pit Public Lobby and Access Contest” and what was the rap that influenced my writing and the beat behind it??..

Not my kind of song generally, but it's a case of "take the rough with the smooth". Chamillionaire's verse @2:39 (especially the first 26s up to "nanu nanu") gives vibes that make part of me want to aspire to create a thrifty version of Tyson Fury on a manic "up" in a stupidly expensive, futuristic car, with other top tech/jewelry/other, "not giving a f*ck", looking like a proper bell-end, etc. The coronavirus and my broke status mean I'll just LARP at home.

 

But I guess that type of scenario has a long history, in ways even back to Alexander & his companions/generals flaunting or overindulging at times in the eastern regions of their "new-money" empire, and mostly being divided and downed by that, their ambition, pride, etc..

 

And I know nanu nanu is from Mork & Mindy which was "way" before my time but I've heard about it and seen a little
