I know it's soon for picking Album of the Year, but don't you think Mac Miller had the best this year? For me, it's a tie between The Divine Feminine and Coloring Book, but I think Chance 3 was overrated as f*ck. It is good but not as much as Chance's fans say.

And the one album many people bring up in discussions, TLOP it is, was pure bullsh*t. It was a fake concept album, as fake as Kylie Jenner's lips. Kanye has lost him artistry trying to keep up with the Kardashians. His album was rather confused than messy on purpose (as some paid critics say). What was the majority of it about? f*cking bitches (one of whom accidentally turns out to be Taylor Swift)? God? Comparing Kim to Mary? And his lyrics were worse than ever. Production was like a DJ Khaled mixtape, so many styles at one place.

Blank Face LP was a gem, but Schoolboy decided to bury it under fillers so I should embarrassingly say that it's not worth being called the year's best album.

I think the production, guest features, the whole sound and feeling to it, the lyrics and its references, and above all, Mac Miller's style which has significantly gotten better since his last effort made The Divine Feminine a - dare I say - classic.

Coloring Book was predictable at times. First of all, it had those gospel-ish songs we had already in Kanye's works, most notably College Dropout and Ultralight Beam. Then the auto-tune sh*t jumped in out of nowhere, with that "Mixtape" track which was an absolute filler. Why did he put Lil Yachty there?! It was as dumb as hearing Panda in middle of Kid Cudi's soulful chants in FSMH.

 

BTW, that's all according to my opinion.

Pretty important song. Snoop's first appearence IIRC, Dre's first track since N.W.A broke up, and the start of an awesome duo that go on to make up the majority of one of, if not the biggest G-Funk albums (The Chronic). In the OST of a good movie to boot (Deep Cover).

Old school classic with scenes of 2 great hip hop movies released during the mainstream explosion of rap and break dancing in the 80's.

Not keen on that early 80's electronic hip hop sound, good to see somebody post that sh*t though. Proper old school. Those are some of the guys who paved the way for Hip Hop as we know it.

@Dnero: 'We The People...' is a great song off the new Tribe album. The moment the beat kicks in is incredible. And that painting of Phife..All the feels.

 

I've actually been listening to the album for the first few times today. A very strong collection of songs. We The People, Whatever Will Be, Solid Wall of Sound, Dis Generations, Kids.. (I love QTips verse on this, not so big on 3 Stacks here, but still great to have them both on a track), Mobius, The Killing Season, Lost Somebody...Consequence comes through with some nice verses....Loads of great tracks to end their run if it truely is their last.

 

Kendrick's feature is disappointingly short, as are Elton John and Jack White's contribution (at least vocally). I find it difficult to know who an instrument is being played by, so I had to look up where they were on the album. I realise they probably helped in producing tracks and writing lyrics as well.

It's in Ireland and he only has another couple of dates in Germany. It's not a full-blown European tour, I'm afraid. Buy yeah.. I'm super excited. I'll let you know how it goes.

Are you referring to Eyedea of Eyedea and Abilities fame? Maybe youre talking about someone else, but this post is now about E&A.

 

 

 

Because I spent a lot of time listening Eyedea and Abilities in College 2008-2010. More specificially their 2nd album 'E&A'. An album I consider to be a classic, I couldn't give you a bad song on there.
