Anyone checking that new wu yet..

i heard a couple tracks off of it a few weeks back and it was pretty terrible. rza's production fell off, and they all sound like they don't even want to be rapping. it's a pity, really. an enormous pity.

Yeah I can't see it lasting very long on my HD. Rae and Ghost still got it though, I know I'm looking forward to OB4CL2.

Im reserving judegement till after a couple of listens..sounds good in places... theres been a lot of in-fighting with the wu by all accounts, dunno if i believe all i hear. I know that there were "discussions" after this album and ghosts new solo were both scheduled to drop on the same day.

OB4CL2..been waiting a long time for this, heard an interview with rae explaining the troubles hes had getting it out..just hope it aint some sh*t cash in.

i have good faith that OB4CL2 will fail miserably. i just dont think the wu got it anymore, solo or together. i mean... ghosts new sh*t was aight, you know? but it's no ironman.

plus, i mean, it's associated with dr. dre somehow and dr. dre is garbaaaage.

I really recommend Ratatat - Remixes Vol. II to everybody in here.

Such an awesome CD.

ayo, could you send a man the link? or did you purchase the bitch?

f*ck Dalek. the rapper, it's a good thing we can never hear him. The few times we're able to hear him, we get reminded by how horrible his flow is, sh*t is in the same line as Technique's flow, if not worse. and the production...the f*ckin' production.

like Ghost had said, Tech was only nice on top of the food chain, only because my dude Penn was rapping and the beat was, if you will, "gangster."

dre used to be something, now he's just struggling to pick up the weights, so he goes out and get the styrofoam ones.

while I'm here, I'd like to say, Only Built for Cuban Links was the best Wu-Tang album to be put out. haha.

didn't raekwon say he was 200 percent done with the album?

you're just mad because dalek's production did everything you wanted to do, before you got to do it. don't be mad, UPS is hiring.

MF DOOM.

Can people tell me what is so great about him? I've TRIED to like him, but I just can't. I've listened to Operation Doomsday, Is Viktor Vaughn Vaudeville Villian and I have Madvilliany (Madlib). Well, if you can call that an album, its stupid. Mostly I feel its his voice, it just goes right over my head. Droning on and on about a load of random sh*t over some funky ass instrumentals.

Probably get slaughtered for that, but oh well.

Was thinking of getting hold of the new Wu, but it seems I'll leave it. Shame really.

Any Gang Starr lovers in here? Been listening to them constantly for a while now, and I don't know if I'm alone in thinking that Guru has one of the best flows I've ever heard. His voice is so smooth, and DJ Premier beats are just heaven.

Any other fans in here, or am I alone? tounge.gif

Ed: Funks, I know what you mean about DOOM, he recieves a very mixed reception from people. You either love it or you hate it I guess. Personally I like his music, maybe try a few of these tracks:

Vomitspit (Mm...Food)

Fancy Clown (Madvillainy)

Accordion (Madvillainy)

Mad All Caps (Madvillainy)

No Snakes Alive (Take Me To Your Leader)

Anti-Matter (Take Me To Your Leader)

I Wonder (Take Me To Your Leader)

The Fine Print (Take Me To Your Leader)

Doomsday (Operation Doomsday)

Rhymes like Dimes (Operation Doomsday)

Might just not be your thing.

Gang Starr is great, Mass Appeal is one of my most favourite tracks. I have their whole Discography, its brilliant to play through. Hard To Earn is probably the best album.

You see, I have basically have all of them Doom tracks, I just don't "feel it" so to speak. Its his voice mainly, it just irritates me. I still listen to him occasionally, just nowhere near as much as say JMT.

Still waiting on the CunninLynguists album, I cant find it, yet on Wikipedia it says it was out on Nov 13th?

Id say cuban linx was the best wu solo album..liquid swords and dirtys not far off. Cant see how you can say its not one of their best projects..that more cinematic sound, the samples...ill rhyming, blew my mind back then and still sounds fresh. Each to their own i spose.

Funkycunky, good on you for even trying, i know a lot of closeminded people when it comes to music...but like platinum was explaining, some people just dont like him..you get a lot of "he just talks nonsense" or words to that effect. Its a valid criticism, but his grasp of language and the way he puts words together is just dope. He also once namechecked benny hill..how many other rappers do that eh? (tbh the fact he did explains his mixed appeal)

Try madvillainy again a few times at least, genius album, and took me a few listens before i realised how good it actually was.

doom is nonsense when it comes to word and it's so brilliant. he has a funny ass take on production that makes him stand out, a lot. doom does more than just glorifying himself when he raps, he builds his whole personality through his jawns. this is comin' from a DOOM jocker, so this is dumb biased. madvillainy is the most accessible work, i think. plus, it's dumb funny, too. "rainbows" has me laughing every time i hear it.

gang starr is ill but guru is such a lame rapper. it's no joke, if he didn't have premo to carry him he'd be chillin' with scoob luv and red hot lover tone. oh, speaking of red hot lover tone, if anyone is a posse cut fiend (like me), check out "4 my niggas". M.O.P., the notorious big, organized konfusion, and some other new jack. hardest drum loop ever.

funkychunky: i heard that new cunninlynguists. it wasn't too impressive minus the song with phonte and witchdoctor which had one of the absolute best beats i've heard this year. maybe i just got to re-listen through the whole thing. opinions, though, so you should check it out anyway. it shouldn't be hard to find.

oh and i hear show and ag are going to be doing another record. "still diggin" bangs daily through my speakers.

I love CunninLynguists, one of my favourite artists. I have Dirty Acres (Advance) which has "You are listening to Dirty Acres Advance.." every minute or so, so that ruins it really. And I cant find a proper version. sad.gif

And @ the new WTC. It blows, they just sound out of it, no real effort put into it.

Blind Joe Death

Gang Starr are mad, one of my favourite for sure. Guru reminds me of Rakim who is one of my favourite emcee's.

Oh and I haven't ever heard of CunninLynguists. I seem to have a similair taste in hip hop to you Funky so I'll make sure I check them out.

Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of Atmosphere lately, I love them. I know a few of you who like them but is there any other fans here?

Atmosphere are great, think I've got about four or five of their albums. Godlovesugly is my favourite, followed by Lucy Ford.

I got a Cunninlynguists album the other day actually, haven't had a chance to listen yet. I'll do it when I get in later. icon14.gif

LMFAO.

Its true though, its just really bad in comparison to 36 Chambers. 36C was raw as hell, this is just cuddly and soft.

Gantons Most Wanted

has anybody heard of that new Cali Untouchable DJ September 7th???? that dudes put out some good mixtapes and remixes he's really pushing the Westcoast artists like Juice & Crooked I. His Mixtapes worth going to get are Western Hospitallity 2 & 3 for those of you who haven't heard it yet theres some tracks i was impressed by on those mixtapes. I mean i was even impressed by one of Bishop Lamonts new tracks and i find his stuff hard to listen to but the track American Dream was pretty laid back and the lyrics were good. Then Crooked I he's just Crooked I a very dope lyricist. Juice he's shaping up to be a very good artist his verse on the Never Remix with Scarface was decent and his No Half Steppin Remix is worth listening to. But point is when it comes down to it a mixtapes all well and good but these days alot of them just seem thrown together but the Cali Untouchable DJ's seem to do it carefully and make a worht while listen.
