Has anyone checked out the new Black Eyed Peas song 'Yesterday'?

I was all ready to ignore it because...Black Eyed Peas, but noticed the absense of Fergie in the thumbnail and where they were and clicked. All that the ATBAN Klann needed to do was rap a bit more and I think they're better. The song is a homage to just about every hip hop artist you can think of and that sh*t's hype.

 

They do a top job recreating those vinyl covers.

This is actually really good! I thought it was going to be another song with overly auto-tuned vocals tbh...

50 is still filthy rich, he just bailed Kidd Kidd out last week and was spending thousands in strip clubs lol. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to protect his finances. He doesn't want to pay Rick Ross' ex $5 million. His businesses are not effected.

damn he had a vlad tv interview about a month ago and it didnt seem like he cared.

Yeah it surprised me as well.

 

I've read that the song aligns with the groups 20th Anniversary. It's crazy to think that the group was originally signed to Eazy E's Ruthless Records at the same time as NWA was splitting up and feuding with everyone.

 

It's same scenario as with 50 Cent/JMJ/Onyx...BEP and NWA just don't fit into the same era of hip hop history in my head...But there we are.

 

Anyways, I hope this is some indication that they're going back to their roots for their next xyxle of albums. Fingers crossed.

Been listening to some classic lyrical displays from Rakim, Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane again recently. Rakim has no mercy when he's set on destroying a beat:

Never listened to Brand Nubian much, and recently Lord Jamar's comments about colour in hip hop have put me off exploring his music.

 

That track is sick though.

I don't agree with Jamar's comments regarding race in hip-hop but I never let that affect my enjoyment of the music. Brand Nubian are legends and their albums from the 90s are simply too good to miss out on. Here's some more of their classics:
