So, I streamed BUSH last night. I can't say I loved it, but I can't say I hated it too.

The opening was nice. To be honest, I love Stevie Wonder's voice, and so, the album started to sound nice to me with that song. Chill. Calm Down. That's How the California Roll.

But then, This City, R U A Freak, and Awake, sound like they're the same song. I mean it for real. They sound like one song which is split into three parts.

So Many Pros also doesn't do a different job. It's Snoop and that's what he's been saying through his whole life, but this time, he's got more of a singer than a rapper. Musically, I see no difference in Peaches N Cream too. Snoop has made sh*t to be played in cars, right? You shouldn't listen to it really, but hearing it will probably make you feel good. Lyrics shouldn't matter to you, or you'll hate this album.

The song that makes some difference, is Edibles but T.I. ruins it. Believe me. There wasn't any need for a T.I. guest verse. The song sounded nice already. The beat was great, anyway.

I Knew That's start reminded me of K. Dot's Alright. I thought of this until the actual song started. That was when I thought I'm playing Awake again. I skipped it.

Run Away sounded nice. After California Roll, this was the second BUSH song I liked in some way.

I'm Ya Dogg was the first BUSH song with some real Hip-Hop in it. I liked Kendrick's verse, but I think it could've been a better song without Rick Ross' verse. I guess that rozay verse was put there for more sales. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

 

Now after a first listen, I'd give the album 3 stars out of 5. It's contemporary Funk music, or at least that's how I feel. It sounds great, but some songs sound really repetitive.

 

BTW, California Roll is one of my favorite songs right now.

Nah, not at all. It just appeared in my "Recently Added" playlist out of nowhere. It was incomplete and had empty spaces. It just repeated the hook but with a new drum and bass pattern and a bass heavy supporting voice repeating after Trey.
