This is nice. The smoothness of some it detracts from how savage bigs delivery was but there are some gems. I like the two you mentioned and the skys the limit remix.

 

Dunno if anyones heard it, but theres a BIG over illmatic remix out there and it f*ckin works man. Hold up

You know it man, UK never gets the recognition it deserves when it comes to hip hop.

 

Here's a sick Glaswegian group from the 90s, sounds really gritty and East Coast.

 

 

This guy's one of my favourite contemporary rappers. A relative newcomer with High Focus, he's got a really poetic, Aesop Rock style.

Kendrick's 'King Kunta' sounds cool. So far every song from 'To Pimp A Butterfly' has it's own vibe. Still intrgued what it will all sound like together.

I just read today that his album was released earlier. would've been cool to be released next week though since it would be my birthday. Know any place I could download the album for free without completing surveys?

It's available to listen to on spotify, you should buy it if you want to download though. Kendrick put in work on this sh*t.

 

Favorite tracks after first listen are King Kunta and Institutionalized.

Holy sh*t, it is out now. Huh, I knew there was a f*ck up with iTunes releasing it early yesterday, but didn't see the Spotify release date mentioned anywhere. Well, I know what I'm doing now.

 

I already know this will be worth buying.

 

With this early release it'll be interesting to see what the sales are in the first couple of weeks. They could be pretty high as leak time has been very low.

I find it so strange every-time I come to this topic someone literally has just posted something I want to post. I've been playing Pac all month. I has spotify on yesterday as I geeked out and played a strategy game. Collectively I must of played eight hours alone yesterday, kinda weird.

Animation video is so good, but that disproportioned stubbly armed Tupac is weird.

 

 

Then whats stranger is that I woke up this morning and TPABF was out on spotify, as youse already spotted.

What's with the version of 'i' on the album? it sounds like live vocals over the track with the ad libbing and such. Also the yelling at the start overwhelms most of the first verse before fading out...Being Kendrick, there may be some narrative reason that I didn't pay attention to

 

I assume it's the same on iTunes / the CD. I don't immediately like it as much as the single version.

 

 

And the Tupac 'interview' at the end is memorable.

'To Pimp a Butterfly' is a f*cking dope album. Only gave the whole album one listen so far and I'm feeling it but not sure if it's better than good kid. I'll definitely be giving it a few more listens over the next few days but yeah good on Kendrick. He's came with an album which has a lot of important messages in the music which modern day hip-hop lacks at time. He's cementing his place amongst the greats for sure. Two amazing LP's under his belt already and then you have Section.80 and the mixtape Overly Dedicated which were both dope projects.

 

Also, the Tupac interview at the end was brilliant. I did not expect that!

I thought it was an average album. Not Ice's Cube finest work.

 

Dude lol, you are sleeping on Kendrick. You need to go back and listen the whole of good kid m.a.d.d city. It's one of the best modern day albums.

I've listened to Kendrick's new album three times up to now.

 

The first time was yesterday when I bought it and listened to it for first time.

I was like "Huh, you ain't no king anymore, K dot. King came out with a classic called GKMC and you're tryna go after him. It's a flop".

 

Second time was when I wanted to sleep, last night. I thought " Hmmm... He's got some real music there" and I should confess that I fell in love with most of the tracks.

 

Third time was after I woke up. Right now I think that I've actually started to understanding what it really is.

That's why I love Kendrick, man. The only other in music world that I can compare him to, is Roger Waters. Kendrick isn't a MC in the industry (what many rappers have become), he's an artist. And, the only albums that can be compared to this, imo, are "Amused to Death" by Roger Waters and GKMC.

It may sound f*cking crazy in first listen, but it's a nice album. You know, you can't count on a first listen for judging a piece of art - especially in case of a masterpiece.
