Belly of the Beast is the start to a great section of album. No. 99 and Christ Conscious following it. 3 fantastic songs worth listening to back to back to back.

Probably Forest Hills Drive. Tetsuo and Youth is a big improvement for Lupe heading back in the direction of Food and Liquor/The Cool.

 

I'm amazed at how much J. Cole sold for that album in the first week (somewhere in the 300K region), given that it was announced and released within a month or so. Very little promo. I didn't realise he had such a considerable pull. I think it became hip hop's best selling album of last year and I'm ok with that.

@Kippers yeah i loved Lupes first two albums and then came Lasers which was just too pop for me and even i think Lupe didn't like that album himself due to issues with record label. F&L was pretty good but this one imo is much better, he just sounds like he really put some effort into this one and did his thing especially with the opening song. I really like murals, blur my hands, chopper, and little death.

 

I really like how J.Cole didn't really use any unnecessary fearures and just did his own thing and my god, the production on this whole joint is hella dope. I don't think i skipped a single song from start to finish and replayed it so many times too.

Yep, there's a lot to like on Tetsuo and Youth. He's back on my radar after that album.

 

It's the first J. Cole album I've enjoyed from beginning to end + everything you said. I've got a handful of songs I enjoy from The Sideline Story/Born Sinner, but this whole album is on the iPod.
