You people are acting like a beef between Tyler and Bob is gonna end in violence? It's hardly that kind of a beef, it was more like Tyler dissed him in one of his anti-mainstream rants and Bob took personal offense. Tyler doesn't personally hate Bob, he just hates mainstream artists in general so he referenced him. Tyler responded to "No Future" saying he kind of liked it because he never heard Bob spit like that, so he actually respects Bob for retaliating in a sense. Neither of these guys are dangerous and neither are their followers. It's not like you see Bloods on the street bumping OFWGKTA or B.O.B. It's mostly youngsters and hipsters that listen to these guys, so no one is going to get shot.

I was quite surprised to hear that Nas and Damien Marley would be appearing at one of the more local, unknown venues. I didn't manage to go unfortunately, but saw the posters and was a little taken aback by the scale of them all. I did listen to their collaborative album though, and while I enjoyed it, around halfway through I just wished they'd give the uprising and politic stuff a break and just sing more about weed. Maybe it's me being a tad insensitive as it's obvious what this means to them but it got a little heavy for me, personally.

 

That said, and going back to Odd Future who I saw mentioned, I can't get Yonkers' beat out of my head lately. I'm looking forward to Goblin a little more than a 20 year old white man should be.

i'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but the songs sound rather generic and homogenous with each other. more specifically, your lyrical style seems to be kinda bland, and more emphasis is on individual words than actual seamless flowing of words. At least that's what I think. again, not trying to put you down or anything, but take it as constructive criticism if you will

I find it really interesting and a little funny that Wiz Khalifa decided to sample a song sang by Demi Lovato. It's very clever how he turned it into a weed reference. I wonder how he found out about Demi's "Our Time Is Here" in the first place. Just imagine Wiz sitting in front of the TV, watching Disney Channel and listening to Demi's, Miley's, and Selena's songs. An actual Wiz-Demi collaboration wouldn't be bad at all! I'm actually interested in something like that.

I very much doubt Wiz Khalifa had any part of the sampling process. It annoys me that many people somehow think that every vocal artist also controls the composition and production side. If that was the case, we'd have some extremely talented and independent artists in our industry in vast quantities. The logic is even stranger when assuming that somehow 'every' singer/rapper is going to magically know how to make compositions and instrumentation off the bat. Believe me, (decent/competent) music production is a steep learning curve. If it wasn't, there would be a whole bunch more of random hacks making music (but then again, they would have to be able to sing/rap first, wouldn't they? *sarcasm*). Stop praising artists for sh*t they didn't do. Thank Kajmir Royale the f*cking producer for making the beat; not Wiz, jeez.

Brand new Wale, Rick Ross & Jadakiss called 600 Benz, from the Self-Made album on the Maybach Music Group label. This sh*t go hard.

 

Waiting on Game's Red Nation video, he is shooting the video with Lil Wayne tomorrow. He got a red Mohawk specifically for the video. Make of that what you will. If it means the album comes any quicker, go for it. It's a buzz.

 

I was looking on the KanyeToThe forums again, and I was looking in the topic dedicated to Game's next album; their was a Tinychat open and someone was playing some new Game (instrumentals) and a few other select joints. From what I gather, some were fakes, although the Scarves guy I mentioned before started playing stuff too, which was legit. The stuff played included instrumentals for Detox produced by Khalil (one track featured Kobe, and was apparently pretty good). It is a shame I missed out on it by a few hours. I've been waiting so long for R.E.D. I could care less for Detox though. Speaking of which, Dre may have finished up deciding the final tracklist at least.

 

EDIT: Young Guru says Jay-Z's next album is conceptual.

I love the amount of music knowledge you stumble across in this thread. my previous points about Odd Future/BoB make me sounds like OF's fag-hags, but I guess that comes from being around people who; when you talk about music, you get shot down for 'listening to black man music', the same people saying at have Sony and MTV's corporate dick up their arse and listen the Top 40 sh*t but deny following the crowd with their 'trademark' Adiddas hoodie, claim to of started the trend and previously seeing the same people in the same hoodie with the same Skull Candies. I'm probably just being bitter towards mainstream artists such as BoB, I still stand by what I said about OF would rip Bobby Ray a new one; but all I can say is fair play to BoB for retaliating and it could get interesting, hopefully nobody will get physically injured in the process; just a few bruised egos.

I've been waiting so long for R.E.D. I could care less for Detox though.

I haven't been keeping myself up-to-date about R.E.D since Red Room dropped, from what I remember it wasn't too flattering, anyways recently it seems like Game's got his fans having faith on him again so I'm waiting for the album as well.

I read through that KanyeToThe thread from the point your link opens it up from and it seems like I really missed something, a damn shame nobody's got a recording, that Kobe hook everybody was talkin' bout got me interested.

 

Anyways, I've heard Red Nation as well so the video's interesting to me, the red mohawk is a dope marketing trick right there.

 

As for the sampling issue - heavy co-sign on each one of your words, it's pure ignorance to think each artist handles each field regarding their music and plus, it makes it harder for real producer-artists to maintain a rep as a specialist and be awarded with the recognition of the work they put in.

When an artist producer their tracks, it's a huge plus for me.

I think we all might as well just post in big bright pictures and colours screaming for attention. The amount if times I've posted a link to a new song, just so for a few posts/days later it be posted again. I wouldn't lie when I say it is starting to irritate me; the lack of patience people have here is shameful. Of course, many of the times I post stuff as it is released, so at times YouTube will have no uploads of said content, so it is understandable from time to time for a video to be posted. But not at the expense of ignoring the original links posted.

 

People seem contempt with just rushing in here, posting a bunch of tracks and f*cking off again. Chances are, if you hear something new, it may have already been posted here. There are of course, OTHER hip-hop fans here. Everyone seems fine with ignoring one another and doing the latter of posting a butt-f*ck load of videos new and old, and not giving a damn about others. I remember The-King mentioning such an issue some time ago, and now I will have to partially agree with him. Three Game tracks in a row, as well as this new 600 Benz track have then been posted about again by others. This is just stuff from recent memory. The Game - Rough track has been posted 3 times now I believe, including my original post about it. It is not just me either, others suffer too because people are too lazy to check the topic thoroughly enough. Sorry for the big ugly blistering violent red text, hopefully those guilty will have read something I've said in this topic for once now (or from anyone period).

But to entertain you; I think it is good. Hopefully MMG is somewhat successful unlike Ross' endeavor with the Triple Cs. I think from an artistic and independent standpoint I feel Wale will have nothing but to gain from this deal, especially when considering that his deal with Interscope was hardly prosperous. Hopefully Ross won't have much influence on the individual artists' sound. If that is avoided, artistically it will be good. Although I don't expect a major jump in sales and exposure, especially at such an early stage.
