Don't ever compliment Souljah Boy. That dude shouldn't even be called a rapper. All we see is garbage music from him it seems. And as for Roscoe Dash, well........

 

Even Lil Jon did better on that track than SB and RD.

Doesn't tell much, apart from the fact you can hear a little of the production, it sounds like it may just be that Soulja Boy produced track - or DJ Toomp perhaps.

If anyone remembers that Kanye snippet with Rick Ross from early June, the beat sounded much like Kanye's earlier tracks did, this is more closer to a southern track or something like 'Good Life'.

IDK if he's gonna use many types of rap beats on the album, he's probably gonna spit fire to 'em. I'm over-excited about hearing the final version of Chain Heavy.

Bun B is awesome and never ceases to bring good material to the table. I've enjoyed most of his solo work especially II Trill which is definitely one of the better rap albums from the last decade it had very versatile production some good features.

 

But I just couldn't get into Trill OG what so ever the intro track was pretty dope but from there it mostly went downhill the production just wasn't as diverse as his last efforts I think the only tracks that really stood out for me were Let Em Know, Chuuch!! and Snow Money. Maybe its just me who thinks this but it just had way too many guests on there for the sake of it for example why drake was on there it just seemed like an attempt for J Prince to parade around the achievement his son discovered drake. Amongst other things it just seems thrown together to a degree in ways its probably going to be perceived in 2 ways instant classic or sub par now people have given this album a high rating for example the source gave it 5 mics which honestly i can't understand if thats a 5 mic album then II Trill deserves 20. My reasoning is II Trill had decent production every track had a different style to its production which kept it fresh and had a lot of different content plus the guests were on par with there verses and as much as i despise lil wayne his verse on i'm cold was dope. The problem with the guests on this album are it just felt like they were on there for the sake of it serving no real purpose.

I've got a little task for ya'lls;

 

For a while now i've wanted to do some kind of music video for Kanye's 'Say You Will' which is probably my favourite track off 808's. I've got a few ideas for bits of it, but i can't come up with a decent story arch for the entire song. I don't want to follow the lyrics directly because that's far too obvious and linear. This also wouldn't be much help as half the song is instrumental anyways. Maybe some kind of experimental angle like most of Kanye's videos.

 

 

Anyone feeling inspired?

@kippers.: I don't really know what you mean, is it something with real footage of Yeezy or will you make it from scratch?

Anyway, I think you should start will a lot of colored shapes, and the colors will become uglier, and the video will become a little black & white, and there's rain and stuff. Seems nice to me.

I'll be filming it all from scratch with my camera. The shapes is a cool idea though for a segment of it at least; I can imagine those fitting to the beeps in the beat nicely as they become discoloured. Just brainstorming and bouncing ideas from a few places atm.

 

I'm after some kind of storyline I can get actors for, as well as those cool artistic ideas. Something that can revolve around a letter being written to a woman during the course of the lyrical section.

 

There's a segment in the instrumental part of the song at 4:34 where it changes for a short while before the beeping sounds and beat come back in. It sounds hell-ish a darker than the rest of the song, to me, so I was imagining a close up of a letter being burnt. The flames licking the sides of the envelope would look super effective in slow motion, with the girl holding it out infront of her. (She would be out of focus, with the letter in focus) I just can't find a good context.

@kippers: So here's my suggestion for you. Perhaps you can have one person who would be the main protagonist. This person could be walking around a city/area, sorta cold and deserted. The catch is, whilst this person is walking around doing their everyday thing, everything surrounding them is in slow-motion or completely still (which seems easier), but it's very havoc-orientated. So say they are walking through a riot or violent confrontation for instance. Maybe have the protagonist be brighter than the backdrop. Additionally, edit some shop signs and banners to contain any important lyrics in the song. Sounds rather complex, and something that would be very expensive, but that is all I could think of right now. Maybe you could take some of them ideas, and make them work. Hope I helped.

That's good GG, very very helpful. I'm thinking of combining those 2. Been brainstorming those suggestions on my pad and thought of this concept.

 

Protagonist is walking down a very long road, brightly dressed compared to the surroundings which will be quite grey behind the backdrop of a sky at dusk (Purple-orangey if i'm lucky) deep in thought about a certain girl on his mind. There's a fight going on between 2 fellas (A riot would be difficult on a zero budget) on the other end of the end of the road with the girl he so happens to be thinking about cold and scared huddled up behind them. As the song goes the camera plays a simple zoom outwards from close up to long shot of the protagonist walking down the street towards the fighters, all in one take, and at 2.21 on the track. ***(Can't decide if he should be singing lyrics or not)

Protagonist has pushed the men out of the way (or fought them off?) on the first line and saved the girl, **reciting the second line direct to her.

 

Catch - It's all played out in slow motion and the two fellas fighting have brightly coloured shapes covering their heads which are going through a looped animation of decay. This will symbolise that they should be an iminint threat to him but he doesn't care, nor is he paying any attention to them to even acknowledge their faces. His only concern is the girl he likes.

I'm going for something simplistic which is also experimental. I guess you could say it's similar is vain to Flashing Lights video with its simplicity and slow motion. That's what i've got so far anyways and it sounds better in my head; but think Flashing Lights with a fight in it. I want it to feel incredibly cool and smooth, with a lot of dominance beaming off the protag. Really want to try it myself and see if I can pull it off as well as that song.
