2 solid singles from Cube's album. This could turn out better than Raw Footage did. I just hope the opening song to the album isn't as god awful on the ears as 'I Got My Locs On' was on Raw Footage. I haven't heard an Ice Cube track get radio play in a long time though.

Also, what do you think of B.o.B.'s album (The Adventures Of Bobby Ray)? The reviews out there on the net are totally different. Some rate it 9/10, some even rate it 4/10. I really don't know if I should buy it, or should I just go for Teflon Don, Big Boi's album, or even Tecca Nina's? Anyway, Play.com has a big sale right now on hip-hop albums, so you guys should check that out. I'm buying Recovery, but I want another one too. Help me out

The Adventures of Bobby Ray is a solid album. It's more Pop than some will expect. If take an attitude towards this album where you're expecting it sound like your typical Hip-Hop album, as opposed to the prior then you probably won't like it. If you can look over the radio friendly sound, then you will most probably enjoy it. It's all about preference. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I don't there is much replay value.

 

I'd suggest getting Big Boi's album. The production is great, the lyrics are on point, the mixing is the best I've seen in a long time and the album as a whole is fresh, unique. Giving it huge re-playability. Up there with the OutKast albums. Since the picture I posted with all the albums I've bought so far this year, I went and bought Reaosnable Doubt and Get Rich or Die Tryin'. I also just got M.I.A's album, listening to it now. It's not Hip-Hop, but it's dope. Also got Fat Joe's new album on the way.

I've just listened to some more Big Boi songs, and yeah, it's awesome. The beat on General Patton is just insane.

 

 

 

P.S.: Does anybody have Get Rich or Die Tryin' (The movie soundtrack, not the album)? It's one of 50's best albums, imo. All of the songs are catchy and grimy, I love that. It's old, but y'all should check it out anyway.

The other two albums I've really enjoyed this year are Nas & Damien Marley - Distant Relatives and Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (which is a mix of multiple genres, but it has heavy Hip-Hop influences). Bun B - Trill OG got 5 Mics in the source, so you might want to check that out too. That's if you're talking about new albums.

 

If you're talking about albums of yesteryear, then it's all about what mood you're in. I've heard some songs from the GRODT Soundtrack, and I agree. I really like "I'll Whip Your Head Boy".

I was actually talking about older albums, but no problem. I'm probably getting Trill OG (I love what he did with the name there, trilogy), I've always liked Bun B. Now that he's getting these high ratings, it's really a must-have. For some strange reason it's not available at Play though.

 

EDIT: Has anybody seen the B.M.F. video by Rick Ross? The censoring is just insane on Styles P's verse, seems like you can't even say "guns" anymore...

As usual, I'm late with everything, so I just dl'd Trill O.G, Brake Lights & More About Nothing, gonna take a listen to 'em by the weekend.

For me, 2010's best rap albums have been B.o.B's Adventures, Em's Recovery, Drake's Thank Me Later, though I have no physical copies I will be getting those & Kanye's upcoming CD in the autumn, I also think Trill O.G will find it's way to the list.

Ha Crazy Town they got some radio play a couple of months ago when DJ Am passed Butterfly was pretty dope.

 

Dre won't put Detox out and if he does its going to be a very mediocre release. Sure the leaks with Luda, Nas, T.I, Crooked I etc. were awesome but I don't know if anybody caught that recent interview he did but basically from the gist of it hes spent like zero time on detox properly over the past 10 years. What a f*ck you to the fans though he'd rather do beats for faggy lil Canadien kids name justin beiber.

 

As for that brake lights mixtape i listened to it and honestly if thats Games new flow forget he's falling off. Don't get me wrong i have no problem with him working with pharrell but the styles just don't blend well and not just from a fan perspective because if it did the current industry would of been all over that timberlake collaboration. Anyway usually a lot of games best stuff comes from his mixtape game but after 07' no effort goes into them anymore You Know What It Is Vol. 4 just ethers all the crap hes put out on mixtapes since L.A.X.

 

Cube on the other hand has always been consistant with his album material whether it be solo or during time within groups such as Westside Connection or N.W.A. The Raw Footage album was dope when i saw the Jeezy feature i thought it would be epically terrible but it suprised me that it wasn't used as a single but to be fair with G.R.M.M.D.I, Do Ya Thing and It Takes A Nation were brilliant all 3 had me hyped for the album.

 

I finally got chance to fully hear Recovery and even though its one of the more better albums the industry has seen in a few years i have to be honest hearing the 2 itunes bonuses before the album kinda ruined it for me. Purely due to how dope those 2 tracks were compared to most of the album and even though it marks his return to the industry it just seemed way too overhyped.

 

Xzibits new album is definitely one i will be checking for over the next couple of months because the 2 singles he has put out have been excellent and you know he will bring a good album as demonstrated in the majority of his work.

To get an A Capella you would need the full song and the instrumental. Not only that, but they would have to be at the exact same pitch, level, tempo, etc. Then there is technique that you do to get the A Capella out of it. I forget how it works, I've only read up on it.

In Audacity beta there is a option that claims to remove song background, but that doesn't work that well.

Its like you said theres videos on youtube on how to do it but i think the other thing you need to do is reverse the audio. Other thing is with instrumentals is they don't always match the song.
