That's weird: I know the EPMD version word for word, but I've never heard Nastradamus...nice sample spotting.

Speaking of sample spotting, I worked out that the Mariah Carey Honey song is similar to AZ's Hey AZ (featuring the lovely SWV).

Another example of a hot sample shared by 3 songs:

EPMD's is my favourite of course, but the track I have on my computer is the '99 remix (which is even better in my opinion).

I already knew about EPMD using the same sample on It's My Thing as Jigga did on Ain't No Nigga but not tha Liks. And it's obvious EPMD simply did it better. They are monsters when it comes to using samples. If I'm right EPMD re-recorded their old songs from the 80s in their greatest hits which was disc 2 for their 99' album Out of Business.

Another one:

Also:

Not to forget:

And Big Daddy Kane's "Pimpin' Ain't Easy" which is not up in youtube for some reason.

After basically downloading all my music I decided to give what I owe to hard working Hip-Hop artists. I go rid of all my downloaded sh*t and I want to build an extremely large Hip-Hop album collection. Starting a collection of something has always been something I was interested in. Now that I have found the perfect thing I would like some type of help on how it should be. A few weeks ago I ordered and received four albums as a start.

My Collection

Paid In Full

Reasonable Doubt

Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Illmatic

I will likely be able to get 3-5 albums every 4-10 weeks but I could be able to get some more if I save some money. The amount of money I get varies greatly. I'm planning for the next set of albums to be this below but I would like to get some of the best albums first. Give me suggestions on anything I should think about picking up.

Next Set

Mecca And The Soul Brother

Long Live The Kane

Yo! Bum Rush the Show

Liquid Swords

Run-D.M.C.

Speaking of buying the real album.

Picture this: back in the day when I was three years old, my father takes me to a record store. We had just got a new-fangled CD player and needed something to put in it.

He says to me "Pick a CD, whatever you like."

I come back with O.P.P. by Naughty by Nature.

And from there the story began...

Next Set

Mecca And The Soul Brother

Long Live The Kane

Liquid Swords

Run-D.M.C.

Great choice with Long Live the Kane.

Next set should include these:

It's a Big Daddy Thing

Live and Let Die or Road to the Riches

AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted or Death Certificate

By All Means Necessary

Daily Operation

I definitely have a wish-list for albums to buy.

EDIT: As we speak of samples, here's another.

Forever music video dropped.

Drake and Eminem still kill it raw even with slightly tweaked lyrics. Kanye/Wayne still very much meh...

On a side note - Eminem looks pretty weird in his section. Those drugs really messed his facial expression up. He's got the entire Slaughterhouse behind him aswell which is pretty sweet. (along with others) I imagine because of Royce Da 5'9 a collab could very well happen on the next SH album, I bet.

I like it but it'd be better if they took Wayne out.

That's awesome seeing Em in front of Slaughterhouse, an Em and Royce reunion/collab needs to happen!. The edited version is really annoying though..

I'd be so humiliated to be Drake, Wayne or Yeezy; going your hardest on that track and still sounding so-so, then having Eminem come on at the end with all of SH behind him and f*cking eehh-nnihilating the the track, there by making them all look wack.

I thought all their verses were sick, Waynes a little less so than the rest, but he had a couple of punch lines that I thought made his part worthy so it's all legit.

EDIT: Does anyone have the tracklist for that Maino mixtape, I can't find one and the download didn't have the track names.

I think the Maino mixtape is a hit 'n' miss. For me there's some good tracks, some bad ones and the rest are par; but it's a small mixtape and taking that into consideration, it's okay. Speaking of mixtapes, Cory Gunz just dropped one the other day. I've liked his stuff ever since I started listening to him on RapRadar ('Cory Gunz Tuesdays'). This mixtape is bananaz, just finished listening to it. 26 tracks, so there are allot of tunes: great hooks, great lyrics, great flows, great beats. I definitely encourage you guys to give it a listen, I know I love it:

The reason why Slaughterhouse was with Eminem in DRAKES “Forever” video

Miss Info writes:

If there’s anything that we’ve learned over the years, it’s that…there are no coincidences in hiphop. Many of you sharp-eyed readers were speculating about that not-so-subtle Slaughterhouse cameo in the new “Forever” video. The four lyrical butchers stand behind Eminem during his scene, which was shot in Detroit (as opposed to the rest of the video, which was shot in Miami).

It’s a befitting finale for such a heavyweight crew cut. Eminem’s verse is fire (my personal favorite of the four) and so is the visual: seeing Em, alongside Joell Ortiz (who was once signed to Em’s mentor, Dre), Crooked I (who was once signed to Dre’s de-mentor, Suge), Royce da 5′9″ (Em’s renewed friend), and Joe Budden (who is just…Joe Budden, lol).

So here are the “rumors” that I’m hearing…

That Slaughterhouse appearance in “Forever,” was indeed a non-verbal announcement of the contract negotiations going on behind the scenes. For the past month, both sides have been working towards bringing the group to the Shady label. And that the gathering of Em and the guys at the shoot, is the first of more collaborations to come.

For now, Eminem is working on Relapse II, in Detroit. Joe is working on The Great Escape. Royce is preparing his Oct. release, StreetHop. Crooked I is working on an EP called Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist (lol!). And Slaughterhouse will be on the road with TechN9ne for all of Oct and Nov. But fans all want to see Em plus Slaughter on a track (especially Em and Royce). Imagine the killer verse volleys!

Hopefully we’ll see some progress on this Shady/Slaughterhouse “rumor” in the next few months. It’s good for hiphop.

Seems to make alot of sense if you ask me.

But i got a question for all of you enlight of all this Jay-Z Blueprint 3 stuff.

What is your personal favorite Jay-Z song, if you had to choose just one of all the tracks Jay-Z has put out, was apart of, or just produced for that matter?

I actually forgot about KRS-One. I'll probably get Criminal Minded instead of Run-DMC for now. Amazon says that the album was discontinued.

BTW I was reading the Album Collection thread and noticed some weird picks you had.

2 Live Crew - Is What We Are

50 Cent - Guess Who's Back?

Eminem - Relapse

Jay-Z - Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life

Nas - Nastradamus

For Relapse 2, I think Tech N9ne & Eminem should get on a track together. That would be an explosive collaboration! Both hold insanity & have crazy flows. I'm really hoping for Relapse 2 to have a lot of collabarations (a la The Marshall Mathers LP.) But Em should throw aside all these mainstream rappers & work with more people like Slaughterhouse, Tecca Nina, Nas, etc. Marshall is too genius for mainstream.

You might know it, or not. But I don't have any bought albums yet, although I plan to do that one day. As for the weird picks, I haven't updated that post in ages and since then I have gotten a lot more albums and deleted a few. One of them that I got rid of is the 2 Live Crew one which is just... juvenile. As for Relapse, I've had it since the day it came out and still not listened to it. Hard Knock Life is not that bad, although doesn't compare to Reasonable Doubt or even Volume 1. Nastradamus is pretty enjoyable IMO with some good tracks while some suck big time. Guess Who's Back is there just because I thought I could do with some of the old 50 and that album has a couple of hot tracks tbh. I'll update that post soon.

edit - updated.

The Beat 102.7 is mostly mediocre overplayed sh*t. Although that Styles P track isn't as bad as others. The Classics 104.1 is much better.

To be honest, most of the stuff on The Beat I didn't even know about until I got IV and as for The Classics being better than The Beat, well I think they're both equally good but that's just my opinion.

The Beat is nowhere near as good as The Classics. The Lost & Damned tracks added in only make The Beat sound worse.

Most of the of the songs they added to the Lost and Damned where sh*t, however Love Lockdown was great but this is just my opinion. As for the Classics being better than The Beat, well that's just your opinion, and we all have our own opinions.

I'm really hoping if that this Em/Slaughterhouse rumor is true, Shady doesn't fu*k up their album and keep it in limbo or something. Relapse 2 definitely has a lot more potential now, and I'm also feelin' the idea of Tech jumping on a track with Em, finally.
