I like BP3, it's different. Far from perfect, but I haven't listened to a Jay-Z album like this since the first Blueprint.

For anyone buying it (and hasn't listened to it yet), d/l it now and just enjoy it, I can assure you, you wont be disappointed.

Blaqprint, Slaughterhouse, Ecstatic and OB4CL2 are the albums of the year.

Been listening to that Drake, Kanye, Weezy, Em collabo' non-stop for the past week and it sounds better every time I hear it. It may be strange, but I've actually grown tired of most underground Hip-Hop for awhile, can't even listen to 7L and Esoteric anymore without getting bored. Only underground I've really been able to stomach recently is K'Naan, and that's just because he's unique. Anyone else go through a phase like this before?

I love K'naan inlove.gif

I dunno, I kinda like a mixture. One day i'll like the mainstream stuff, te next day i'll want to listen to underground shiz. sometimes I refuse to listen to anything underground for MONTHS and hating everything I used to love before suddenly getting into it again. So yeah, I go through various phases of taste as well.

EDIT: Listening to Cuban Linx 2 in it's full. Black Mozart is simply amazing in my opinion. That chorus Oooo. gives me a shiver every time it plays. Instant classic and favourite for me. I can see it being looped for a long time. Got a lot more of album to go now though.

Oh and New Wu.

God damn, the whole album will be amazing, I can tell.

...Buying it

This. All music has the potential to be great, you just have to avoid over-indulging yourself.

Long Haired Freaky Guy
Anyone got any good reccomendations for some good underground that has like the same style as Atmosphere or Cunninlynguists? I don't know how to explain what I mean by same style, but am always loving the beats that are used; it's not always your typical hip-hop beats.

I've had OB4CL2 playing all day yesterday and today so far. It's fantastic, didn't think it would touch the first but damn, it does. Not single bad track on it. House of Flying Daggers, New Wu, Broken Safety and 10 Bricks are crazy. Two of those use two of my favourite Dilla beats which is just awesome, Ason Jones is also a Dilla beat and man is that track sad. sad.gif

Kind of around here. A year or two ago, I was obsessed with N.W.A and that was the only thing I listened to for a loooong time. I got bored and decided to try out some other stuff then I didn't listen again for another long period of time and even nowadays I can't listen any longer than just an album in a row.

A few months back I could say that about Gang Starr, now it's Big Daddy Kane I play non-stop.

That ICP song must have been put up in this thread at least three times now. And if everyone likes to bring up their favorite rappers then I'm going to do that too.

I just heard this yesterday and damn... Kane still got it, he should just make another damn album.

Rap lyrics are meant to be taken seriously.

Is there some kind of manifesto that applies to all music ever that can vaguely be classified as hip hop, ever, that I'm not aware of? Because I really don't see what you're basing that off. Song lyrics can be tongue in cheek, what makes hip hop any different?

I see what you're saying. Hip-hop has only seemed to work well on a serious tone. Many Hip-Hop songs that are meant to have some funny included never seem to execute right. Although Slick Rick did make some funny shít.

But just look at this.

It's just my opinion.

I'm a educated fool with money on my mind

Got my ten in my hand and a gleam in my eye

I'm a loc'ed out gangsta, set-trippin banger

And my homies is down, so don't arouse my anger, fool

Death ain't nuthin but a heart beat away

I'm livin life do-or-die-a, what can I say?

I'm twenty-three now, but will I live to see twenty-fow'?

The way things is goin' I don't know

YEEE NIGGA

As I look up, at the sky

My mind starts trippin, a tear drops my eye

My body temperature falls

I'm shakin, and they breakin, tryin to save the Dogg

Pumpin on my chest and I'm screamin

I stop breathin, damn I see deamons

Dear God, I wonder can ya save me

I can't die my Boo-Boo's bout to have my baby

I think it's too late for prayin, hold up

A voice spoke to me and it slowly started sayin

"Bring your lifestyle to me I'll make it better"

And how long will I live?

"Eternal life and forever"

And will I be, the G that I was?

"I'll make your life better than you can imagine or even dreamed of

So relax your soul, let me take control

Close your eyes my son"

My eyes are closed

These are songz n wordz 2 live by.

Ahhh man all this talk of Cuban Linx is making me impatient for the album to drop, yeah I don't like to spoil things. Anyway, some stuff from me, to contribute:

I was watching some videos of GTA IV a few nights ago and it had a Lil' Wayne song at the start and then on in, and I really like it. Has a nice laid back Latin vibe to it. I was wondering, seeing as their a few Lil Wayne fans here, that you guys could help me out and let me know what tune it is. If you know and reply, much love - thanks wink.gificon14.gif .

Baby got back was entertaining and had witty lyrics. Sir Mix A Lot obviously put some thought and effort into it, and that's good enough for me...it doesn't deserve to be compared to Soulja Butt and Lil' Whack.

I can't get enough of KRS One's Step Into A World, it's got to be my current favorite.
