One Mic is class. I was addicted to it a while back, I'm always loving a Nas song more than every other for a brief period before changing. And Illmatic may just be the best album ever, production wise it's brilliant. You got DJ Premier, that should be enough not to mention Large Professor and Pete Rock! But Gang Starr's albums have better production.

 

Today I was walking home from school and listening to my iPod, I mixed the tracks I have so random songs would play and this came on:

One Mic was one of the first Nas tunes I heard, brilliant song. The tempo is unmatched.

 

Anybody heard the two exclusive tracks off the 10th Anniversary Edition of Illmatic? Also very good tracks:

True. Especially "Moment of Truth". The title song itself is just dripping with awesomeness. Makes me wish that "The World Is Yours" by Nas was put into the classic hip-hop station in GTA IV. It would fit the f*cking mood perfectly. Or at least "One Mic" on the modern rap station.

 

I think I'm gonna go download some new tunes.

EDIT: Never heard those Nas tracks before guru, thanks for posting them. I'll have to download them as well.

I can see why those tracks aren't on the original. They just don't fit with the quality of the other songs.

 

Nas has a demo tape that's around the internet.

If I'm right those songs guru posted were made 2004 as bonus tracks for the tenth year anniversary of Illmatic. You can easily notice that when Nas talks about Common's beef with Ice Cube on Star Wars (which took part in 1995).

 

And the title track for Moment of Truth is top 10 material for me.

I could see On The Real (which uses One Love sample) being on it, but Star Wars I couldn't. It doesn't match the theme and style of Illmatic. But the lyrics and flow on the track are still tight. And besides, they were recorded in 04 (like Flesh pointed out).

I remember listening to Breathe when it first came out...Awesome. Without a doubt, Fabulous's best song imo. I hope he starts making songs like these again.

The first one is the correct one. The second one is a completely different tune. However Drake said that the wrong version leaked and that a final redone version is yet to be released. But it's already on itunes (but we all know how reliable they are ). And I posted that Permanent HQ link underneath the video for a reason (which I do with all new songs) .

That Errbody Scream track is nuts. The first time I've heard Keith Murray, he smashed the track. Gonna check more of his stuff out. I'll probably upload Raekwon's new album next (when it's out ).

Just been listening to some of the tracks, not bad. Allot better than the Timbaland stuff. The beat selection overall is a bit too 'futuristic, techno' (not sure how to explain it, it's very lightweight and mainstream; has a very southern sound) to me though; not to my tastes. I haven't heard the whole album yet though so I can't really judge it as a whole. I will do at a later time.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the production. But a lot of them do have a kind of soulful element that surprised me. Real As It Gets, A Star Is Born, Young Forever...all quality imo.

True. Listened to a couple more tracks, the lyrics are great. Shame about the Timbaland tracks though. Empire State of Mind is still my favourite track at the moment, loving the piano and chorus (was the track I was waiting for most out of all the others as well).

 

I probably won't by the album though.

Well Dres unreleased stuff is ussually very dope and some of his early D.R stuff leaked like 10 years ago in bad quality. Songs like Hoe Hopper, Ratatatat OG version and Mr Officer might make it on there along with other stuff people don't know about from the Chronic sessions. As for Suge apart from getting his ass kicked at a club earlier this year hes broke all the Death Row stuff was auctioned aparently but i bet Suge has some peoples masters stashed away somewhere because lets face it we are talking about the shadiest rap mogul to be sucessful.

The Chronic: Re-Lit tries to roll up some of those scraps that were misplaced 17 years ago, and while some may happily burn it to the resin, refined tastes merely appreciate proper re-mastering, the videos, and acknowledge these seven songs as schwag: a nice freebie, but nothing you want to mix with your chronic.

 

So yeah. Just some extra stuff for the hardcore fans basically, as we already knew...

Well i'll admit i'm a hardcore Death Row fan i have quite a bit of the unreleased stuff you name it whether it be Kurupt, Petey Pablo, Eastwood and so on. But i just hope the majority does end up on cds for people to hear because as much of a sh*t businessman Suge is he knew who had talent.
