Flesh-n-Bone

I didnt say a thing about my own length of time listening to hip hop, just that people choose to talk a lot after only listening for a brief period.

and one of your reasons for disliking big is that your friend rates him (albeit too highly in your opinion)? i mean, it seems like youre pushing to create informed opinions, why would you go and do that? Defeats the object.

yeah but thats a fairly ordinary, throwaway line anyway, so whats your point? you just acted like you proved something. who were you even arguing with there?

look, the "opinions" I put in my post are facts, namely LL fell off mid 90s and has been dreadful since, BIG had better lyricism (or at a push equal to)  tracks like 10 crack commandments (dont get me wrong its a great track but he was pretty much constrained by the concept), and that he was Ill on the mic. thats all i said

oh and f*ck a top 10 list.

But when you cite knowledge based on how many minutes someone else has listened, it sounds like you're bragging about how long YOU have been listening to hip hop.

I don't dislike Biggie at all, he's obviously one of the best MCs ever who had mad skills at his best and could still be good at making party tracks. I'm just fed up with my friend's obsession with him and playing the same tracks every time I'm out with him.

Next... no, I wasn't trying to prove anything or arguing with anyone, I just wanted to point out how annoying my friend is and his choice for showing off what BIG is really all about.

I didn't say anything about LL falling off, because everybody knows he wasn't the same after Mama Said Knock You Out. As for BIG, you're probably right, I might need to listen to him again, since it's been a while not to mention songs like "Respect" are just hard to not like.

And gamesguru, you need to check out Kane ASAP!

Will do. I really need to listen to more old skool Hip-Hop. Not that I don't like it over what I usually listen to, it's just that I haven't really gotten round to it. I love the old-skool style of beats, especially Wu-Tang Clan.

Funnily enough Big Daddy Kane came up in Raekwon's list of top 20MCs (some show on a music channel). It was a really good track, can't remember what it was though; it used a sample from a previous 80's track though. The list was actually really good, although the ordering was a bit iffy at times. If memory serves, he put T.I in front of the likes Rakim cry.gif . And weirdly he put Wu-Tang Clan 20th and 1st. Not only is this biased, but he put multiple MCs in twice, meaning there was in fact more than 20 MCs in the list.

Oh, and I forgot to put Nas in my list.

Is that show 'watchable'? Because putting T.I in the list is not funny in itself, but in front of Rakim... I don't know what to say!

However, if he put BDK in the top 10, I forgive his Wu-Tang bias, lol.

I can't remember where he placed Kane. T.I, I actually like a few of his tracks like Remember Me, No Matter What; the tracks he has that have a purpose. Although I wouldn't place him high up in my list of all time MCs, especially when he has got rubbish like Porn Star and his last mixtape.

The only reason I was watching that was because my cousin always watches the music channels and I told her I was watching it. Anything to stop her skipping over to listen to Birthday Sex, Kiss Me Through The Phone.......you get the point.

Oh, and I think he placed B.I.G in at No.3........ ph34r.gif

This isn't even up for debate.

T.I may seem like he's taking the right step in his career now. But I'm still giving anything he makes a pass for now.

As for Kane, here are some of his classics, too bad my favorite tracks are not up in YT, but I'll upload them myself, looks like it.

There are more and then if you have played San Andreas you have heard "Warm it Up, Kane".

WJF: Let's not start it again...

Wow, f*cking amazing. I'm currently on Raw. Thanks for sharing Flesh-n-Bone, knowledge is power. I'll be sure to check out more of Kane's stuff now.

EDIT: Aaah, I remember Warm It Up Kane.

"Warm it up Kane!, Warm it up Kane!, Warm it up Kane!"

Yeah, I love that tune.

Maybe because he knows T.I more so than Rakim (personally)? Or the fact that T.I is mainstream and more appealing?

But come one, T.I in front of Rakim!!?

Although it doesn't really bother me, it's just opinion.

No problems. Starting listening to him is filling the missing piece of your collection. Also, thanks for that video for Warm It Up Kane, I was looking for one but found nothing. There was one video available but sadly removed due to all the copyright sh*t youtube is being ruined by.

My favorite song is "Young, Gifted and Black". I'll upload it myself tomorrow.

That would be like me saying that you liking and respecting The Game is blasphemy.

T.I is far from mainstream.

Some of his stuff is mainstream, and he appeals to a wider audience and is a huge success compared to most rappers; he definitively isn't underground. I like T.I myself, but I think he is nowhere near Rakim's level.

If someone thinks T.I is better than Rakim, that doesn't mean it's wrong, people can think that. Everyone has their own opinion. But my opinion is that Rakim is better, so I was just expressing that. I may have come off that I thought it was a terrible mistake that Raekwon said that, but I didn't mean it like that.

EDIT: He also placed The Game in front of many others including Rakim, which equally surprised me.

T.I like many other mainstream rappers who get radio play and high sales may have better tracks inside his albums and these songs are not singles. Because you see, I'm tired of hearing the same songs on the radio everywhere, "Whatever You Want" being T.I's current overplayed radio hit.

Instead of making a trash album with two or three standout tracks I wish rappers would limit their club hits and rubbish tracks to singles and leave the rest of the album to be something that has a meaning to it.

It'd be good to stop arguing and just enjoy the music, also I tried to listen to that Jeezy song but sadly it's not available in my country...

Anyone seen this?

That's true. But I think also that he placed The Game high up because he has actually recorded tracks with him recently and they get along with each other. So there's that personal/business aspect to it as well. Like I stated earlier though, I hate these lists about who is the best and what not, nothing ever good comes of it. Leave it to the bloggers tounge2.gif .

Loving all the debates and all, but I want to listen to some music for once! tounge2.gif

Just some random tracks:

Damn it, still waiting on that Slaughterhouse album to arrive to me. Should be about a week now. I've only listened to the singles and the above leak.

That's a shame.

Anyway, thanks for posting the link (even though you need to be a member tounge.gif )

The last lesser known artist(s) I found about where the Cool Kids, so I recommend them. Their songs have good original hooks and they have an 80's vibe about them.

Ya Boy man is lyrical wordsmith on the microphone, apart of unsigned hype, done productions with Dr.Dre and The Game.

This last track always cracks me up

Organized Konfusion. Pharoahe Monch and Prince Po...possibly one of the most slept-on, most creative duos to ever come out of the 90s era of boom-bap.

Distinct sound.. the Gone Fishing Mixtape is pretty cool -- really like 'Popcorn' from it, sounds like a real banger.

I could probably loop the start of 'A Little Bit Cooler' forever.

Yeah, Gone Fishing is a good mixtape; only problem being that Don Cannon screams over the tracks every 5seconds. They've got a debut album coming out some time this year called 'When Fish Ride Bicycles'. I wonder where the sudden obsession with fish came from breadfish_by_Moto.gif . As long as they keep to what they do best, I'm sure the album will be really good.

There are a couple of tracks they've made that are very different from their usual style, but still very good:

Just saw this over on RapRadar:

Is Eminem’s Relapse 2 hitting stores November 17th? Relapse 2 recently showed up on Amazon UK with a November 16th release date which would make the US release November 17th because the US usually gets albums one day after the UK. This would also make a lot of sense because November 17th is a Tuesday and most stores begin to sell albums on Tuesdays. Amazon is usually very reliable for album release dates. Are you ready for another dose of Eminem’s relapse this soon?

Make of that what you will......
