I haven't heard from Common in ages.

I never picked up his last album; just sort of forgot about it.

Game was on Jay-Z **** when The Documentary came out, but now he wanna diss him. He'll be apologizing to Jay in a couple a months.

My thoughts precisely. He's been on Jay-Z and Co.'s dicks for a long time, now he's trying to diss him. He needs to pick his battles better. His beef with 50 was fine, but he shouldn't be a fa**ot to rappers who are much better than him (Rass Kass comes to mind). Personally, I'd love to see someone like Jay Z challenge Game to a battle, but that will probably never happen.

I didn't even know that album existed until a few months ago someone mentioned Common somewhere on the net and said he made a horrible new album. Then Common himself commented on the album saying it was more of a "summer album" than what fans should expect from him. Haven't listened to it, and wont do either.

I'll have to take your word for it. I only heard one track, and it sounded pretty bad.

Translation: damn, what the f*ck was I thinking with that rubbish? meh, i'm sure the label can come out with some cop out excuse for why it was so poor.

Meh, Guru also made that song I posted a while back using autotune, but listen to the whole album and you'll find some other sick songs there.

Common did a song with the Jonas Brothers, so yeah. You have falling off and then you have Common.

Jay-Z > The Game.

Jonas Brothers? Damn, that's worse than DJ Premier producing a track for Soulja Boy.

And no doubt, Jay-Z is way ahead of The Game. Why the hell does Game want a beef anyways? Didn't he do it back in 2006 already?

The Game just mad cause Jay-Z made more money then him.

I got doggy style which is sikk

I got some of scarfaces songs but to me he just seems like some average brokedown broda spittin random bars confused.gif Good bars though

N.W.A has nothing but awsome songs.

Eazy duz it never gets old (Nobody move (bitch had a dick!) makes me laugh everytime)

Gotta love death certificate and the chronic colgate.gif

Snip.

Te be honest, Illmatic was the best album you listed, but you had the least nice things to say about it. None of those albums are anything special, apart from Doggy Style, and Life After Death. I can't be bothered now, but someone will probably recommend you an array of contemporary underground rappers, if you're adverse to the current mainstream zeitgeist.

*snip*

That's a great way to start with real hip hop. First, the more known stuff that are also commercially successful but take skill.

THEN, start with more underground stuff and other stuff released during the 80s and 90s.

But my favorite MCs are Big Daddy Kane (the best ever IMO) and Guru (Gang Starr). Check them out!

Death Certificate, Straight Outta Compton & Illmatic are the three best albums ever IMO.

Illmatic is just lyrically poetry, and some of the best producers ever are all in one album (Large Professor, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Q-Tip).

Kane was at his prime during his first two albums in the late 80s. Then he still hit hard throughout the 90s but never was the same as his earlier days.

KRS has been in business all the way from the late 80s up to this day. But I have not listened to all his albums because some of them (the 00 era ones) have not really gotten enough positive reviews in comparison to his stuff from the BDP days for me to listen to.

While you're at it, listen to Rakim, EPMD, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, Kool G Rap, Brand Nubian, Group Home, Jeru the Damaja, X-Clan, Wu-Tang, AZ, Kool Moe Dee, the whole D.I.T.C (Big L, A.G., Lord Finesse and so on), the whole Boot Camp Clik (Sean Price, Buckshot, Black Moon, Smif-n-Wessun...) and Masta Ace a listen as well. They all have similarities to aforementioned rappers.

If you like Gang Starr, give A Tribe Called Quest & De la Soul a try too. Then there is the west coast stuff which should in no way be ignored if you want a complete 'real hip hop collection'. Compton's Most Wanted, Spice-1, Too Short, Cypress Hill, Above the Law, Xzibit, Ras Kass, Dilated Peoples are all some good west coast acts. San Andreas' soundtrack has a good combination of good hip hop music from both east & west where some worthy rappers appear.

I think that's enough for now.

A part of me sort of died then. I gave it a listen a while back, it's not the worst song in the world, but FFS Common.. No wonder he got dropped as Green Lantern.

La Coka Nostra's album is soo dope.

Anybody hear of K'naan? I've been listening to his Troubadour album and I'm impressed. His Wavin' Flag song, for example, sounds a lot more reggae-influenced. He's survived Somali's civil war, which is what most of the album is based on. Also has Mos Def and Chali 2na as some guests.

A new sound, and I love it.

I've heard of him but never actually listened.

EDIT: I just found out The Game is going to have a concert here in a weeks time!

I'm really liking his 'Take a Minute' track. Like Flesh, I've heard of him but never taken the time to listen to him before. But now i'm tempted to get his album, that stuff sounds pretty good. Reminds me a lot of Akon; subject matter and voice wise.

Edit: just read his Wiki page out of curiosity and this is an interesting way of learning some of your English

In his new country, K'naan began learning English, some through hip hop albums by artists like Nas and Rakim. Despite speaking no English, the young K'naan taught himself hip hop and rap diction, copying the lyrics and style phonetically.

I'm definitely digging those K'naan tracks.

Anyone here ever listen to Cyne? His tracks started recently playing on my Last.FM and I've got to say, he's amazing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Pretty Apollo is available as a single free track download at Last.FM.

L was one hell of a rapper. Shame he was gone so young. Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is a classic. "Put it On", "8 iz Enuff", "Da Graveyard", "I Don't Understand It" are all class tracks.

Big Picture was also a good effort but it didn't really feel complete but songs like "Platinum Plus" & "The Heist" are also classics.

Some GTA3 rap songs, before the dickhead music/radio stations developers decided to act like assholes and cut out bits to make them shorter.

Each of these has an extra verse at the end.

Mala Rodriquez.

From Scarface Game:

Can someone please tell me what this song is about? It sounds awsome but I understand nothing. dontgetit.gif

Awsome oldskool.

More Reggaeton, but still rap. tounge.gif

RIP MJ. lol.gif

@D-Ice: I have like three of Mala's albums. She's saying "look at me in the eyes if you want to kill me. Nananai, I'm not going to let you." besides elaborating on it in the two verses, thats basically the whole song. tounge.gif

I've been listening to Warcloud lately. My buddy has all of his albums and when he played it it was like sex in my ears. He's hard to find on the internet and it's a fat chance you can find him in any old record store.

Warcloud - "The Beer Song"

The whole album is great this song and "Something Is Going To Make Me Slap This Bitch" are my favorites.
